The exploding battery issue has got me scared, what USB PT options do I have?

The biggest problem with passthroughs is the cord. Since a lot of them can be damaged after continual use. There are higher end PT's out there. For example:

VP-Passthru BB

Yes, even safe chemistry batts can blow. As well as batts in cell phones, etc. Nothing's completely safe but, there's very little chances of a these types of batteries can blow. Also, I just found out that the person that was injured used a e-cigar and not a mod.

What's the voltage on the BB passthrough?

Did the e-cigar take other batts or was it one of the built in ones?

There's one link in my post above yours and if you have the money to spend. Then a Darwin can be used as a passthrough as well.

Not sure what battery the Darwin uses but I want something that doesn't have a battery involved. From readings, it charges the battery than you vape from the battery. You're still going through the same charge/discharge cycle.

Being picky but I don't mind spending the extra cash for what I want. If not I just keep buying more batteries and cycling through them. It just seems very anti-environmental when I'm junking 5 batteries a month. Also getting annoyed at babying charging.

It's a 5V passthrough and I believe the e-cigar was one with the built in batt.

Blah, was hoping for a 3.7 or a VV.

Wow, I hope we find out which model it was. I thought all the built in batts were relatively safe though I have heard of eGO's blowing while charging.

LOL Well, there are some ego passthroughs that might work for you. Although, the built in batts are the worst. Since there isn't anywhere for the gas to escape. So, there's a higher risk of the whole thing blowing up on the person that is using it. Although, it's also the same case with mods that have no vent hole. The link I provided above has a lot of information as to what to look out for when trying to avoid this type of disaster.

Yeah, can't seem to find one that doesn't use a battery to step down.

Thanks for the heads up but I've read that a long time ago (during one of the smaller battery scares, also made me buy a Pila charger back in the day).

Eh, only the paranoid survive.

I went through all of candlepowered battery information before jumping onto big batt mods. They have quite a few more recorded explosions than ECF.

It has it for Jan 2012 which is the most current information that has been compiled. As for the e-cigar, I heard it from a friend. So, I'm not 100% certain about that.

New incident Feb 13. Unless I'm completely wrong.

This thread. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...n-severe-injuries-exploding-ecig-battery.html

Thought the Jan explosion was due to stacked CR123's.

Back on topic:

Anybody know any higher end PT's that do 3.7 without a battery to step down? Or VV?

Bump, thought more people would be looking for PT's.

Blah maybe just get a cheapo.

For anybody else indyvapor seems to have 3.7v PT's.

Seem to be the cheapo. All of the 5v's seem blah. If somebody made a quality 3.7 or VV PT mod, I would pay for it. Heck a wooden PT mod would be great.

I got a battery-less passthrough that is variable voltage so I could try out v.v.. I had to get a 2amp ac-USB adapter USB AC adaptor $7. Both are working well and no problems so far. The passthrough I received has four voltage settings instead of three as listed- maybe newer stock?? USB Variable Voltage Passthrough $19

You shouldn't be worried about this.. Nor should anyone. You're fine with what you're using.

To put this in to perspective: Droid 2 Mysteriously (And Allegedly) Blows Up In Some Guy's Ear | TechCrunch

I bet you use a cell phone daily?

If you read my posts, I already went through a battery blow out (non e-cig related) before and that freaked me to the point of phobia maybe. I junk 5 batteries a month just due to rotation. I check charge/discharge cycles and junk when its half way its rated lifespan (I don't trust batteries to be fresh or even legit, I've seen quite a few bootleg batteries in my life).

I do this to further minimize risk. I would like a PT so I can limit the charge/discharging I do on my batteries.

Why is it so hard to understand, I just want another safety net? I'm not going to stop vaping. I just want to make it safer for myself. I'm most stationary right now so why take extra risk when I don't need to?

And people saying not to worry are the people who worry me. Batteries explode. Even protected ones. Only the paranoid survive.

Well I'm going to contact modders and see if anybody wants to make me PT with VV.

And to the cell phone thingie, yes I do but I keep it away from my body (usually in a bag). Monitor its charging and either get a new phone or swap the battery before its rated lifespan is up.

And to the guy who mentioned the Jazz. I already own one (plus I stopped being a carto guy). Just want something for when I'm stationary.

Arnold, I mean Eric, at DV seems to be a nice guy...very honest, open, and down-to-earth. I have made 3 orders there so far and am very pleased. Low prices, fast shipping, and the Organic Tobacco I got yesterday is my new favorite juice. I ordered 2 more bottles and one bottle with vanilla.

Gargh how do you pay this guy? I want to give him my money but he doesn't have anyway for me to pay online?
