Government research funds are for producing the results government wants...talking to us would not provide those results.
The ANTZ won't do that as if they did they would have to include all answers. By "researching" social media they can choose that which fits the predetermined outcome they are looking for.
Since when do gov. depts. set policy?

That's such a quaint notion, Granny. Our important Senators and Representatives don't have time to concern themselves with such details; that's why they create and fund agencies full of the best people that their biggest campaign contributors can spare for a while.Since when do gov. depts. set policy?
The conclusion of the study is already known. The researchers will comb the internet and cherry pick to get the forgone results. That's a given. Other then that it's a very nice 2.7 million hand out for the professional ANTZ to help keep all the players in line. Just standard tobacco control corruption.
With so much money floating around there are always going to be willing hands that will say and do anything. It's a nice job if you can get it. At this point it is very much debatable as to who has killed more people in the last 10 years, cigarettes or tobacco control.

The scientific community wants to use facebook as a research tool? Soon they'll be citing Wiki as a valid source for facts. Maybe even citing the government agencies who sign their paychecks.

Don't forget that we are just "addicts" who will say anything to clear their conscious and continue their addictive behavior.
And as such, what we have to say about the matter is of no relevance in the scientific literature.

The absurdity of it all would be laughable, if so many lives weren't at stake.

The good news is that math simply does not support the progress of counterfeiting and pyramid schemes.
