The FDA wants us to call their action line. So I did.

We all know about the FDA's new press release. The FDA said to call their action line if we experience any adverse side-effects when using e-cigarettes. So I called them. I told them I wanted to report strange side effects. They asked what kind of side effects. I said, " I had been smoking tabacco cigarettes for five years and have been smoking e-cigarettes instead for about four months. I no longer have smokers cough, I don't weeze any more and I no longer get short of breath when I climb a flight of stairs."
the lady on the other end of the phone sounded suprisingly concerned and is sending me a form to fill out so they can address the issue.

I suggest all of you call in and report your side effects.

Lacey, the "side effects" reported on this forum, in the Health section, would stand a regulator's hair on end. Add "nicotine overdose" reports and visits to the emergency rooms, etc. I have long felt those posts might some day be used against e-smoking.

Still no deaths.

TB - There are going to be side affects with anything. I have asthma and on a bad day, I have issues walking down a city street because the air is so thick with pollution. Now, I find that those side effects of my asthma are less. I attribute that to not burning tobacco.

What I found funny was the humor in which the OP wrote her spoken conversation and it did give me a laugh. That's all. Side effects are serious and unfortunately, there is no way of telling if the side effects noted in the forum are from being a smoker for so many years or from the ecig. Hence the need for long term studies, which we do not have longevity in the industry to do so yet.

Same as the argument that nicotine has always been "guilty by association" because of the manner in which it has always been delivered.

But I do think a lot of those posts could then just be attributed to stopping analogs.
I know I posted the other day about sore spots (cankers) in my mouth to see if anyone else had the same reaction and people said it was probably related to tastebuds regenerating and so forth.
Well, I'm not usually one to just take someones word for it blindly, so I also did a little research myself and yep....canker sores are indeed listed as part of "side effects" of quitting smoking. As is sore throat, coughing, dry mouth and quite few other things I never would have related to quitting. So hopefully a lot of the things people report here as side effects can in actuality be attributed to quitting the analogs. I think I need to go update my post ...or maybe the mods/admin can delete all posts that show anything negative;)

No... just update your post via a new post. (quote your old post) Then, if you have some links to follow regarding the research you did in order to come to your conclusion, add those. It takes a little time, but your fellow esmokers with the same questions will be happy you did :) It's a generous contribution to the forum.

I agree. It gets tiresome to read that every time someone has a health "hiccup" they assume it must be due to vaping.

Will do. Hopefully others who've posted about bad experiences will update if those problems disappeared or found it was related to the lack of all the crap in what they were previously smoking, etc.

Hehe, it's easy to misconstrue things from our names and avatars. Even when I sign PMs with my actual name, people still write back to Rose.

Anyway, great phone call DUDE! Thanks for the smile.
