I've taken the plunge & decided to make my own e-liquid. Before I start I'd like to mention that I have issues with pg and can't use it. I got FA flavorings and I'm using 15% DW to thin the vg base. I mixed up some bottles, crock pot steeped them and then they sat and nature steeped. Some need some tweeking but a couple weren't too bad, EXCEPT they all have kind of a funky flavor to them. So just for kicks I tasted the vg straight. It has a sweet flavor, but it's also bitter and kind of funky. I do not like the flavor at all and I'm thinking that's what giving my mixes a weird taste.

So just what exactly is vg supposed to taste like? Can anyone give me a description of the flavor? Should it have a bitter flavor?

Thanks everyone

It's sweet sweet like syrup not maple syrup just like sugar syrup you might have gotten a bad batch from somewhere I get my VG from wizard labs there reliable

Long time unflavored VG vaper here.
Same as what the folks above have posted, lightly sweet, vaguely reminiscent of cotton candy, but again just lightly.

Always bearing in mind how a given flavor is totally unique to the individual I agree that you should try a different brand of VG.
That funky taste could be brand dependent or it could be your taste preferences.

To me VG tasted from the finger taste like an over powering artifical sweetener but when vaped it has only a slight sweetness.
