The Flavor wall

I'm not sure if anyone's talked about it before but I'm calling it the flavor wall. When I a flavor for more than a few puffs I find that the flavor diminishes with each successive puff. To keep this from happening I keep different tanks batteries and flavors all on the go at the same time to avoid hitting the flavor wall. That's also how I know it's not the juice losing flavor in the bottle and not the device as well becuase when I switch and then switch back the flavor is back as well. It's not an inconvenience or even something that bothers me I'm just wondering if anyone else experiences the flavor wall and has any idea what causes it.

yeah it happens with food too .... just your taste buds adjusting to the taste is all .... i find vaping on different sides of the mouth delay the effect

I figured it was just the taste buds adjusting. Dang I was hoping it'd be something sciencey that would sound awesome if Bill Nye were explaining it lol

(best bill nye voice) "well you see its like this...your tongue is really only capable of sensing 4 distinct tastes - salty, sweet, bitter and sour. Its really your nose that does 90% of "tasting". The nose is full of tiny little cilia that are responsible for collecting scents (and thus taste) and sending signals to your olafactory receptors. Its the olafactory receptors that are telling your tongue what you are tasting." - now we say good bye to bill nye because the rest of this its just me speculating on why we stop tasting flavors. Simply put, I think its because our brains are in a constant state of looking for excitement. when something is overdone we simply fail to recognize the experience as being unusual and thus dismisable as neither a threat or a treat. In short - after a period of time experiencing the same flavor there is no advantage to processing the information of the flavor and thus our brains simply stop paying attention to it.

I will admit I do have this happen to some degree, but not to the point that I loose the flavour all together (thank goodness) I pretty much vape the same flavour all the time, and as yet am still satisfied, and I find that so long as I keep my flavour percentage at 20% I don't loose too much. (I do make my own flavours though so, and I will admit that the few store bought e liquids I have used did have a short taste life :()
