I received the FT Origin clone earlier this week, and finally the Aqua clone yesterday.
To be honest, I'm not particularly impressed with the Origin clone. It looks great, but the threading is so-so at best, and the switch is rather jenky. Button tops won't flush mount in it, and I had to sand the delrin insulator in the switch to flush mount flat tops. I also stretched out the spring which is otherwise pretty pathetic looking. I'll be looking for a suitable replacement. The only other gripe I'd have with it, is that the adjustable firing pin in the switch is so loose in the bore, that I constantly need to check to see if it accidentally screwed in farther to keep it from autofiring. I can live with that, but will look for a solution that doesn't decrease conductivity. As it is now, it hits rather well.
Then comes the Aqua....
A nice piece of machining this one is. I waited and purchased the $20 version from fasttech that includes both drip tips, the hybrid pin, and the correct looking red o-rings. The Tobeco version on FT does not have these features. A gross oversight on the hybrid pin for Tobeco if you ask me, but a Chi You contact will fit it. The threading is nice and the finish is a nice match with the FT Origin clone. In hybrid mode, it mounts cleanly on the Origin.
The dual coil build is not for the uninitiated, being that there is only the two posts and the quarters are rather cramped. But once the coils were set in position and secured, wicking it was a breeze. For mine, I built 2 8-wrap contact coils around a 2.2mm rod. (Strangely, this is also the diameter of a coat hanger) for a final build resistance of .69Ω.
I couldn't be more pleased with how this thing vapes. Never a dry hit, and the clean hybrid look is damn sexy.
I'm in love with this one.
