Virginia is for vapers
Picked up my orion 2.1 today from the post office, and I really like it. Took me a while to get the coil to stop popping instantly, but the Petar K method saved me. Thing is vaping real nice - I was afraid I might have to bore out the tiny air hole in the cap, but surprisingly, it is fine the way it is. I kinda miss my Spider from this trade though - even though I am loving the orion...

The thing about that trade was the vslue was there those orions sell for 300 in the classies all day. At least you can sell it and get another ihy if the need arises.

Hello Hybreeds. Thought id pop in and say hello. As I have recently become a Hybreed my self, with a iHy standard a couple of weeks ago, and managed to get a Illuminati last night. Very stoked. Wooo Hooo!!!! It just seemed like a good time to introduce myself.

Welcome to the thread :)

1. Batteries- you MUST use IMR. I use AW's. You can use 18650's, 18350's, or 18490's with a kick. (rtdvapes, super t, lighthound)
2. A charger. There are many options. I use an Xtar WP-II 6 bay. Some don't like it because it uses spacers. The "gold standard" is, arguably, the Pila. (same as battery suppliers)
3. Resistance wire. Most use kanthal 32 a-1. Some prefer a lower gauge wire for lower resistance. Some twist/braid it. I find that a 5 wrap coil of kanthal 32 makes about the a 1.8 ohm coil. Less wraps, lower resistance. More wraps, higher resistance. (I used kingorchid on ebay)
4. Stainless steel mesh. Some like 325,some like 400. There are some who say 500 is the best for wicking. I'll order 500 if I ever order again, but use mostly 400 now. (ebay or themeshcompany)
5. A butane torch. Some use propane, and some have even had success at oxidizing wicks on their natural gas stove. I picked my torch up at Lowes for $25. Worth it, IMO. (many, many suppliers ie. Harbor Freight, Lowes, Amazon, ebay)
6. A syringe with an 18ga blunt tip needle. I have a bunch of them. Some swear by needle tip bottles. I love the idea, and would use them if I had them. I think syringes would work better for emptying tanks, if you ever want to do that. Make sure your needles are 1 1/2" long. (ebay, amazon)

Can anyone think of anything else?

Thanks! So just to clarify the supplies I'll be needing to set up my iHy include wick supplies, a syringe, battery, and possibly a kick?

This might help.

About the kick, I know it's been mentioned but I just want to verify one last time... So you use a 18490 nipple top with the 18650 tube, and the new switch seals the gap? The reason I ask is because the FAQ doc has conflicting info (says use flat top for no gap). I assume it's because it hasn't been updated to reflect the new switch?

Also, what is the orientation of assembly? Kick post side up, then battery nipple up I assume?

Just did my first setup of my standard, a 4/3 wrap 32g, on #400 mesh. Popped a couple coils before i got it working, but its behaving nicely at the moment.
Have to adjust a bit to the airier draw than what I am used to from the cobra, but I am liking it so far - need to let the coil break in now.

Switch upgrade fixes the gap... You definitely need the battery nipples up, and the Kick nipples (+) up. If not, you'll burn out your kick.
