HOTSPOTS (Combined Members List)

1. Evilferret (#4676) Just spend some time testing each coil/wick. Its worth the extra time setting it up right. Take the top off and do dry burns and see if you get any spots hotter. Wet the wick and try again. Poke coils around until everything is even. It is easier to do this with a half drained battery. I keep a battery that's partially charged just for setting up coils.

2. Ezkill (#7966) I assume this is on an iHybrid so if you're not getting anything on your coil you have a bad connection somewhere. It's a mechanical mod so the points of failure are pretty sparse. As long as your battery is in right and your switch is hitting the bottom it has to be in your coil somewhere. It could be popped already, it's hard to spot. Or the coil is not properly connected on both ends.

It won't glow red until it's getting close to dry. Red is bad on a wet wick. Is it firing at all?

3. Faceless (#1596) Usually that can be for a few reasons:

1. Coil is too loose at top
2. Coil isnt close enough to positive post
3. Coil isnt far enough from positive post
4. Coils aren't evenly spaced

4. Faceless (#5847) thats usually from the bottom being loose, crypto had good advice for that, when you are wrapping a coil, always leave the access wire and test it for hot spots and then if its at the bottom just loosen the negative screw and pull the wire snug and re tighten Hope I explained that good, I'm not good at details

5. Faceless (#2322) Sounds like your wick is flooded. The harder you press, the more it fires, its a tension spring, maybe pinch the top of your wick. Also the hot spots could be from not being 100% oxidized. Also, the fatter the wick, the less vapor, from my own experience. OB is the one to verify, he seems to be a king of knowledge for wicks and such.

6. Blaine (#12402) I know what he is saying about bending the top coil from the wick to the post and i do the same and it stops the hot spots, its just really hard to explain lol..... basically when you finish your last wrap and bring it over to the top post it ends up being a straight line which then usually caused a hot spot.... so i use my needle tip and place it on the coil btwn the wick and the top post and put a bend in it towards the wick as if you were trying to wrap it around the wick... i dunno if any of this makes sense to yall but its the best i could explain it lol

7. NancyR & Iamtumus (#12424) See Diagram

8. Evilferret (#5848) I follow Zen's video and the first wrap is around the outside.

9. Ezkill (#6299) Could be a couple of things. Hot spots can be hidden very well by too much juice -OR- you have some coils that are too far from the wick. The wraps that are too far dry out very quickly and look like a hotspot but in reality they are just dry. 25mm of wick should be sufficient but you can use more, it is a good sized wick hole.

10. EZkill (#11048) Poke the ones that don't light up. It can go that way as well. It becomes sort of intuitive after a while. Fire your device and poke them and all of a sudden three light up. Then you poke the one that doesn't and it may light up and another one will die. You will see a pattern very quickly. Little more poking and all will light up evenly.

11. EZkill (#11055) If you have the metal end of a syringe don't be afraid to poke them while firing the device. They are easier to move when they are glowing. If you ever watch Zen's coil videos he pokes at them while they are fired. Don't do it with a toothpick as you will burn it.

12. EZkill (#17246) Adjusting how the wick passes through the tank will also help. Sometimes those top hotspot coil poppers are because it's shorting through the tank hole and then the current passes through the wick and exists the top in one big burst.

No amount of oxidation will prevent your wick from shorting if it's crushed too much against the edge of the tank hole.

13. AmberB (#3633) For the one by the positive, get the top of the wick as close and humanly possible to the pos post. For the negative, make sure it comes straight out to the post and as close to the bottom as possible. If it runs too high up it has too much room and if it's too loose to the bottom coil it has extra space off to the side where it doesn't touch. I also kink mine slightly at the spot where it connects to the wick. Seems to do the trick for me!

14. Vapor2112 (#5852) That's a fix for "over wicking". Once you get the hot spots out, leave the top cap off, hold the device at your normal vaping "angle" and fire it to watch what's happening. You can tell everything you need to know by doing this. If your coils start to glow quickly, you either have a short, or its not wicking well enough. If its a wicking problem, ensure your wick is fully open and increase your angle a bit.

If you see juice "boiling" on the coils, and not a lot of vapor, its flooding. In that case, decrease the angle and / or pinch off the very top of the wick (above the top coil). There are a surprising number of variables at play, but you can narrow them down pretty quickly by understanding what's happening when its firing..

15. VaBeach454 (#21589) Yes keep your wick wet while your breaking in your coil, it makes it alot easier.

p.s. I hope you're arm gets better Fisty. That sux :(
Take care of that precious mousing elboe, Fisty!

Thanks for all the well wishes folks. It still hurts this morning after 11 hours of sleep. :| Hopefully this pillow will help, certainly can't hurt. I don't have insurance to have it looked at. Thankfully it's not overly swollen and it doesn't look bruised. Hopefully I just bruised the bone.

About my health: look like my headaches and dizzyness becomes less now. Even went to the toilet yesterday, so my large intestines are still working even they are about 40 cm shorter now.

Yay Paul!! I am sooo relieved you're starting to feel better! I lost a cat to intestinal failure, I know a cat isn't the same as a human but she was part of our family. But still makes me worry even more that other more serious issues 'cause of my personal connection to it.

Im up again. Sinus problems all the time. Even taking allergy meds dont really help anymore. I will be ...... if I ever find out its vapor related. I doubt it. Seems like these days Im allergic to everything. LOL I hope its not vapor related.

Try a different allergy medicine for like a week or two, if that doesn't help more try the 3rd one for a week or two. One kind usually works better than the other two for people and you don't know which til you try them all. Also lower your VG content in your juice if you don't have an issue you know of with PG. VG in higher quantities can cause issues for a lot of people.

it should be, when I was working w/ emma for it, I was asking for a little darker but it wouldve been too dark or too light with the choices so we had settled on the same ano...

Yeah, it's the same color as the red dragon, saturated medium level true red.

Thanks sweetie....just not having a good day. And relaly dont even feel like dealing

I have days like that once or twice a month, so does Timmy. Sleep it off if you can or do something stupid like watch TV. Don't' try to force yourself to deal with stuff, it'll only make you more miserable. Put off everything you can get away with. Tomorrow will be better. (yes, I'm condoning procrastination. it's really the only way to deal with "those days")

Funny thing is, Phil said to let Faceless know that he would be glad to do a review of the iHy. lol

Phil lives in my town, hopefully he'll come to our vape meet on the 15th, I'll loan him my Illuminati to use for a bit if it's here by then, should be.

I'd like to see that review, wonder what's the hold up.

Phil's probably STILL waiting for Faceless to 'give' him one (like all the other's he wants to review)...he's not one that really likes paying for something lol.....he hounded Zen~ for months to give him a zenesis or zap....and finally broke down and bought 'em :p his 'review' of the purchase was definitely 'out there' though

I could be wrong, as it's been forever since I studied Latin, but wouldn't it more accurately translate to "Raise Hell"?

if it was erigos abyssus, yes.... and then latin, like 'english', also has many meanings for most of their words too...it all depends on the context
