First, everyone says something at one point or another that they wish they could take back. Some of the more hurtful things that I have ever heard were followed by "I was just kidding" or "it's just a joke," and that in no way diminishes its impact.

Second, it's a lot harder to stick your foot in your mouth when it's not always open. I've only been on this thread for a few weeks now, but isn't this the third time in as many weeks that he's made some stupid comment and ended up inciting an argument?

Finally, am I the only one that thinks that SD should spend a little time understanding at least one of the words that make up his screenname? Was the choice to use that name meant to be ironic, because I must have missed it.

You're on to something here, SD probably didn't mean it as a joke, he most likely actually thought the guy did what he did because the HR got delayed.

I bet silentdoom feels pretty bad. He's gotten a fair share of backlash for something he shouldn't have said. I bet he feels even worse that he thought it, beyond his regrets for typing it. I don't know him or anyone here really, but that doesn't change the way I was raised, which is to be forgiving. You don't forgive someone for murdering children, but you do forgive someone for a momentary lapse in judgement, and you hope that they learn one of life's many lessons from it.
