I don't want to re-quote the entire thing because I understand what you're saying.

I'm not an electrical engineer but in my experience battery life greatly increases at constant wattage on higher ohm coils. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that I get a lot more battery life out of a higher ohm coil vaped at the same watts.

I've tested this to death because there was a debate about it somewhere else on this board. Odysseus 3.0ohm coil has far greater battery life then an Odysseus with 2ohm coil. Same ProVari, same battery. Each cycled 5 times.

It's true. All else being equal, current is lower with higher resistance. I think Elfstone's point is, when you add regulation of any kind, you can throw that all out the window.

My point is, you can throw it all out the window anyway, if you want to.

EDIT: Or just follow Fisty's advice.

Yea I guess I should have been more clear though. What I'm saying is higher voltage on a 3ohm coil to bring it to the same wattage as a 2ohm coil provides much greater battery life.

So in my example there is regulation happening. It's been my experience with both the kicka and the ProVari.

Edit: That being said, I have 3 kicks gathering dust that I don't use in any genesis type device. IMO, not worth the extra battery drain from the voltage boosting. I've found my sweet spot and I can get a consistant enough vape through the entire life of my battery that I don't want to use the kick.

If its not already, try pinching off the very top of the wick..

Argh I think I may need to wrap a new coil when I get home today. This one is starting to boil more than vaporize. Took a little flathead screwdriver to the coil and tightened it up to the wick a bit...but still annoying.

Tried the small screw on the tall post today for the first time, and WOW! much better than before. My wife also like it, and wanted me to leave it like that. I prefer that airier draw and I guess she is starting to like it too after snaking my Katana every now and then.

Wives will do that sorta of thing! Tho later I will have to give it a try.

Battery is charging so soon I get to try this!!!!

Very exciting!

When you first wrap the oil put some juice on it and pulse fire it with a very short burst looking at the top of the coil. Specifically the part that goes between the wick and top post. If you have a short and fire it too long initially odds are you will instantly pop your coil.

If you see it and it doesn't pop you can adjust and try again.

The top coil pop is probably the most frustrating part when first learning. Still happens to me. I learned the hard way to fire it really fast and if the top wire is glowing hot, stop firing and adjust.

Saves a lot of re-wrapping. I won't admit how much wire I wasted learning this, too stubborn I guess.

I will be ordering the magnets tho to try, as being use to a side button my hand just isn't use to the bottom yet, and you all say the magnets can be easier. The draw feels a bit airy to me with the tight draw screw, not bad just a bit more airy than I am use to currently. The flavor and the vapor tho are well above what I am use to!!!

Tell me about it

For some reason the DID is harder for me to wrap without the top coil problem than other genesis attys too... But luckily I found a good Kanthal supplier on ebay thanks to someone I met in a co-op. You can get 100' of A-1 for like $5-8, which is what wire should be. It didn't start getting all expensive til us vapers came around

Well, yes, but here's what we have now: your observations do not match my theoretical predictions, lol. That means either your observations are wrong, or I am missing another phenomenon from my theory. This is the kind of stuff that doesn't let me sleep at night. So now I'm reading up on voltage boosters and I hope I find the explanation...

Sure, "vape time" might have everything to do with the amount / quality of vapor and if higher ohms at the same power makes you take shorter hits, then this could cover it, but still...

(@grruss: this has nothing to do with vaping, I agree with your KISS stance; it's just my curiosity)
