Nope - if you have a GG and a Katana, you can do the same thing. It threads right on.

sorry for confusing all of yall lol, its a z atty G with my top cap on it, I used a 5/8" OD o ring and it fit my top cap

Yes that's correct.
You will be wasting power boiling juice as opposed to vaporizing it if the wick is not somewhat snug. If it's too far away from the coil it will just boil and you don't get a very good vape.
One of my friends came over for a few hours and we did a bunch more testing. Truly I'm not even oxidizing wicks anymore, they are just a bit more flexible when only run through a lighter for a short period of time. Allows for a tighter fit of wick...the oxidizing seems pointless now.
Guess I'm different, I prefer the pinky button over the side button on the GG, its awkward for me to press it
Put the button against the palm of your hand and squeeze lightly. A lot of people try to fire it with a finger and it's not needed. Try the palm method, that's when I really started to like it.
If the button is in the wrong place as you want the button at 3(if right handed) while the wick is at 6, it's no problem. Unscrew top part of telescope a bit and thread bottom in until you have perfect alignment.
