Depending on the ohms of your coil you will have significant battery voltage drop under load. The lower the ohms the larger this discrepancy can be.

I was losing a lot on my original sidewinder....an entire volt. That's fixed now, it's more like .3ohms loaded which is expected and is a factor of the battery.

If you're over wicking it's probably because how you're firing it. Note that with the thumb switch you are basically tipping the pv to horizontal without even noticing. Might be a bit too much for your wick setup. I can't fire mine horizontally or it floods.

There is no anodization to remove on the sidewinder unless you want to use a kick.

I'm running at 1.4Ω. I just tried it vertical after it's been sitting awhile and the vapor is much better. Next wick I'm going to pinch the bottom and see if that helps. I find my self vaping it horizontalmost of the time.
