Hey guys I have a question. Been having some bad wick coil luck the past couple days. I'm using a 2x2 inch wick with a 3/2 32 wrap on my standard. I get it set up and coils are glowing good and even but after a half a tank the top coil is gunked up already. The juice is boiling on the top coil and the flavor is there but not as it should be. Same with vapor. Its good...but not as good as I've had before. Seems like it's getting a short after the wick is wet. Any help would be great. Thanks

Just wanted to throw in my 2 cents about the twisted 32awg. I had been recommending the under the post twist method also. But, I Have switched Take a 3 foot length of 32 fold it in half. Put a hex key on your drill or power screwdriver. Hook the loop to it pull tight and go. That gives you enough to make several coils and the tighter the twist the better it seems to work for me. Hand tightning is ok but this is even better. :2c:
This is how i have been making mine and it works great and no need to twist next time you build another coil.

All right brings me to something I have been agonizing over. Do you think it a wise idea to split up a le set. I only use 18350 but. Value wise I think it would crush it. I just dont know. It makes sense but I dont kn ow. Thoughts?

Just my 2 cents here, the resale will go down if you break it up, and many of the guys have found at one point or another they "had" to sell one of their iHys, also we have had a few people who had only used 18350 until they actually tried the 18650 and found it hit harder.

Since there was a bit of tooltalk going on; I got a router table for Christmas, and I am kind of thinking about getting a drill press. Is there any real benefit to having a drill press if I would really only mostly use it to bore larger holes into wood? Should I just stick with my regular drill?

I vote on the drill press, as not only the straight like they guys where saying but better depth control as well. If you can't afford a full drill press what I had for the longest time was a stand that held my hand held drill and turned it into a drill press, or they have ones for use with dremel Milescraft Rotary Tool Stand - Tools - Power Tool Accessories - Rotary Tool Accessories

Have you tried pinching the top of the wick? Sounds like it might be over wicking.

I'm hurting myself here cuz I really want that sleeve lol, but if your that conflicted about it you really shouldnt do it. Anytime I have to think that long and hard about something I find out later I shouldn't have done it..

Thanks EZ. I saw that dremel stand over Christmas, but I am mainly wanting a drill press for Forstner bits, so maybe a press would be the best. I am going to see if Lowe's or Harbor has one of those drill stands though. More money for Mods! I'm also going to woodcraft tonight to pick up some exotic woods. I'm really getting interested in making PV stands!

Same problem for me. They just get wicked gunked up. With straight 30, I don't even dry burn but maybe once a week, and an average coil lasts me about a month.

Straight 30ga for me too. And, I've had the same kind of experience.

On the ProVari, you nailed a big part of it for me. The smail gain from VV was well offset by the extra size. I much prefer the ZAU on the Paps or 18500 Bear Brass mod than on the ProVari Mini for size alone..

Yup... Traded my Provari for an iHybrid, Bought a Zmax in a co-op and I'm good to go. Don't see tying that much money up in a PV i just don't use that much.

I find myself getting into the 18500 thing lately....

Still partial to the 18530, but 18500 is a really nice compromise...

You need one of these next:

Especially when you git, like, five PV's going at once. Batteries last for quite a while.

On another note...

New Vape Station!

Gotta love Harbor Freight!

one way to easily tell if your over-wicking is if your tank gets kinda sludgy at the bottom about halfway through. I havent had that problem since switching to solid wicks though. i beleive you can pinch the top to get teh same effect.

yeah the bear brass mods, those look shweet. I'm still looking for a 18500 tube for my paps as I would like to try that and thats about as big as I'll go, I dont think I'll ever use my 18650 tube for it.... I'm on the list for a caravela too in both modes, once I actually have the tubes I will get the batts but for now all I have is 18350 a bunch of em lol, I love em though I can take 4 everywhere w/ me in a batt case cause of how tiny they are.
