I did this super-lame 'trick' and I think maybe some uber-frustrated brother or sister who can't take popping coils anymore might find it useful. Basically, I wrapped a 4/5 and broke it in, then I took a whole wrap out (from the top - unscrew the positive, take of a wrap, pull up and even out the rest of the coils, re-screw). With the coil already gunked up a bit, it's much less likely stuff will go awry it seems.
Sure, the other way, and the 'correct' way is to dry fire the coil in very short bursts to allow it to break in and prevent it from popping - just ignore the hot spots in the beginning and keep firing in short bursts until (most of them) are gone... But I messed up and got ...... so I thought I'd make it this way...
