I just got a new batch of 901 HV atomizers. I have been using this type of atty for a while now, and at HV for me, the 901's give me both good TH and flavor at the same time. But there are some odd things I've noticed with these atomizers.

I have always ordered these atty's in packs of five, and I always order true SLB 901 atty's. If it wasn't an SLB, I would know. The first time I ordered them from a certain vendor, two of them were DOA on arrival (Yeah it happens, it's a hit and miss with atomizers) and the other three lasted about a month, and that was including keeping each of them in rotation from each other.

A that time I was thinking 'Boy these atty's sure do a good job, but they certainly don't last very long.' Then I discovered how to prolong the life of my atty's by cleaning them in 91% isopropyl alcohol.

So I ordered another batch of SLB 901's from a different vendor. These one's have lasted about three months so far. Three of them have died and I still have two that work. On this batch I noticed that the 901 whistle tip carts that I use (along with the ones that came with the atty's), didn't fit very snug on the atty, and after a while, the atty would get hot enough to where the plastic cart could just literally fall out. I pretty much had to hold the cart in the atty with my mouth while taking a drag.

Now tonight I just got a new batch of SLB 901 atty's from yet a different vendor (Different from the first two). And first I should tell you that all the 901 atty's I've ordered come with a blank 901 whistle tip already on the unused atty itself, without any filler in them. So I opened up a new atty from my newest order and take the blank cart off.

The first thing I notice is that the blank cart that came on the new atty fits very snug on this new atty. I snaps into place, so I take my old cart, the one that fits very loosely on my older atty and put it on this new atty, and it too also fits very snug. I think this is very odd.

I looked closely at both the old and new atty's and they are the same manufacturer...SLB. They are identical. So does the metal in the atomizer expand from the heat over time? It couldn't just be the cart melting. Otherwise, why would the cart fit loosely on one atty and snug an another? I tried the new blank cart on the old atty as well and it also fits loosely.

I'm thinking...it's gotta be the metal expanding because, since writing this post...the cart a gotten a little looser on this new atty. What do you think?

I'm not sure what's going on with your particular situation, but I have been suspicious lately about using 510 batteries from different vendors with 501 batteries from different vendors. Unfortunately, I have accumulated a certain stash and I have combined all my hardware without remembering which atomizers and which batteries came from which vendor. To add to the headache, the particular vendors I bought the stuff from didn't label it with their logo.

I am suspicious because I have noticed a decline in the quality of output and I am wondering if atomizers from different vendors will not work as well with batteries from a different vendor. You can see little differences in the atomizers, like some are gold and some are silver and some have little grooves cut out and some do not. Also, on the batteries you can tell some differences too like at the point at which the atomizers contact the battery, there can be slight differences in designs.

Anyways, your post sort of relates with what is going on with me. A very slight relation, but one nonetheless.

As far as knock-off products from vendors is concerned. I won't order anything from a vendor, unless they specifically state that it is manufactured from a source brand that I trust. If there is little doubt, you can always email them and ask. And you can almost always look on ECF to see if they're good.

There are ways to advertise knock-off products and use trick words, such as "These atomizers are made for the Joye 510." instead of "These atomizers are made by Joye and are recommended to be used on a Joye 510 battery."
