What was the biggest Historial thing you remember and where were you?

Mine was the day J.F. K. died. I was 12 years old and off school for a Dr.s appt. We heard the news on the car radio and rushed home to watch on t.v..

I remember my Mom and dad in tears. We piled up two t.v.'s on top of each other so we wouldn't miss a thing. Mom and Dad were pretty good until Walter Cronkite almost lost it while reporting the death.

For days both teachers and kids were in shock..truly the end of Camelot.

The first thing that came to my mind was the day Elvis died, my husband and I and our 2 sons were at a beach house we had rented for a week with another couple and their kids, when the news came on the TV that Elvis had died, we just sat there in shock and hoping it was'ent true, the guys finally left and went sailing but us girls spent the whole day in front of the TV in tears. The World Trade Center attacks really left me in shock to, I was at home and turned the TV on, the first tower had been just been hit but then the second one got hit, I could'nt believe what I was seeing, I spent the whole day watching it over and over again thinking how could this happen and about all the people that were in those towers, what a tragedy. Not that long ago but something I will never forget.

Their doctor believes it was caused by a virus of all things. The stats for that area jumped 50% and it was all kids.

I’m just getting into this so anything you would like to share, I’ll accept. I did just get through reading a book where kids (from 5 to teenagers) have learned how to deal with J1.
As I learn, I post it here in hopes it will help others.

Anything you want to add would be great. A link to the Joslin/Beth Isreal Deconese Treatment/Teaching Unit and a little about it would be very wonderful.

TY
Oh yeah, they found out the Type 1 is always caused by a virus.. They determined that back in the 1970's.. You are more apt to get a virus causing diabetes from having it in your family of course, but a virus without any diabetics (like a parent is always possible). I got mine after having strep throat on and off for 3 years before they decided to take my tonsils out just because those 3 years I didn't get tonsilitis.. I didn't have any diabetics in my family going back at least 4 generations that we knew of (my great grandparents were still alive then so they knew their parents medical histories).. Funny thing is that about 20 years after I became a diabetic my mother, grandmother, and 2 aunts became type 2's (go figure)

I'll pop into the forum group/thread.. didn't know it existed.. I'll tell you, I've got alot of info through the years and have been through alot..

An example (the worst) is that 3 years ago I kept on going into insulin shocks without getting any warnings which was strange.. I mean at least once or twice a week.. One morning I was found on my bed, not breathing and vomit all over the bed.. Ambulence was called... I flat lined twice and had to go on a ventilator for 5 days.. Ended up that the diabetes was messed up because I was hypothyroid, and the thyroid messed up my diabetes to that point.. After that I got on an insulin pump which is the best thing for a diabetic.. Taking 2-4 shots a day through the years got the best of me and a pump is a breeze and keeps the blood sugars in better control..

She will be fine.. She's going to get tired of it though *LOL*

The assassination of John Lennon. I was only 4 I think. But I remember my mom crying in the living room and holding her hand. It's the only truly vivid memory I have of being that age.
Oh so you missed when the huge pubilicity camplaign of Paul being dead from a car accident.. Having to play the albums backwards to hear "I buried Paul" and "Turn me on dead man, turn me on dead man" .. Couldn't believe it.. One of my aunts had a towel around her neck the entire weekend through that because she couldn't stop crying... We lived in Connecticut.. That same aunt and a cousin went to the Shea Stadium show and before the concert the limo they were in ran over a puddle.. The two of them bent over and smeared the water the limo ran over all over their faces because they were in that limo *LMAO*

I didn't think it was weird..I knew this group was special. I figured we could encourage each other and give each ideas.
Charity doesn't have to cost money! It doesn't even need to cost you time. Smile at an old person. Help somebody with their bags. Donate your old clothes or furniture. Call a shut in or someone dealing with something bad. Just give a bit of you when you can. Your smile or compliment may be the only one they get today.
Well I don't know.. I thought that this stuff is basic human kindness and we all do it, then again lately I could scream at most people these days...

The day Kennedy was assasinated. I was in study hall in high school. The news came over the speaker and you could hear as every one inhaled and then all held their breath. Then there was crying.
I was born a week later.....

When Reagan was almost assasinated the kids at school broke into loud applause..
