hi ,

my name is james, im from england,

just wanted to ask you a quick question, hope y6ou can find time to answer...

i have a puresmoker legacy designed to take a kick evolv, having read reviews and after a little research i still cannot be sure what this does, the main questions being,

is it just a device that regulates ?

will it give me more power ? my legacy and 3.7 is not really cutting it with boge srs, and i need a little more power, will the kick give me this ?? [at expense of battery life]

i have a provari mini and i notice after a day, when and if a boge carto sr tightens up a little, i need to use the provari at around 4.2 to get that cart going, sometimesi can bring it down a little to 3.9 - 4.1 then,...

any advice of info on the kick [i have 2 on order so imagine will find out myself shortly ], would be greatly welcome,

thanks in advance

Jamie

Jamie,
You are asking for instructions on Ohms Law. This would be a long response. I'll try to keep it short and if you have questions you can send me a private message and I will try to assist you further.

When we put a given resistance atty on a battery of a certain voltage, the combination produces a watts level. Watts, in vaping, is expressed as heat. In the earlier days of vaping, we used various combinations of volts and resistance (Ωs) to create more heat. We started stacking batteries to get more voltage and then used different Ωs attys/cartos to get different watts (heat) levels. But it was still not consistent. As the batteries get used, the under-load voltage drops and as the attys/cartos get used, the resistance drops over time. So the watts (heat levels) were not staying consistent.

Evolv (makers of Darwin PVs, Kick and DNA boards) figured out that consistent watts (vaping heat) was the real goal with all these different Ωs and voltages. They came up with the Darwin PV which allows the user to set a watts level and the Darwin microprocessor reads the Ωs of the atty/carto attached and then automatically adjusts both the volts and amps to maintain the user set watts level - very consistently. No other vaping device will do this.

ProVari is digital Variable Voltage and will maintain a set volts level. It boosts and maintains but it cannot and does not make any automatic adjustments to voltage and/or amps. So, even with ProVari, as the Ωs drops over the life of an atty/carto, the watts (vaping heat) will increase. Most likely the reason you are raising power is your cartos may be clogging up. This could be from your juices or it could be something else - you have not provided enough information to be clear. Pro Vari will allow you to use different voltages and different Ωs so you can manually make adjustments to your watts output and thereby change the way your vape experience feels.

The Kick does the same thing that Darwin does. It allows the user to set a target watts level and then the kick will read the Ωs, boost power and automatically make adjustments to volts and amps to maintain the user set watts level. It will do it automatically. There is a bit of a learning curve and you will need to do some more reading in various threads to learn how/why this works. If you go to the device reviews and look up my january 2011 post on Darwin First Impressions, it may help fill in the gaps.

Kick boosts - like ProVari - so while using a 3.7 volts IMR battery you can still vape higher voltages. Any boost will reduce batt life to some extent. Boosting uses more amps and amps ARE batt life. Using Lower Resistance attys/cartos also produces more watts/heat and it also uses more amps and therefore also shortens battery life per charge cycle. The combination of boost and LR will drain batts the fastest. Using SR on Kick/Darwin/DNA will give you the widest range of obtainable watts levels and longer batt life per charge cycle. There is no way to say what the battery use-time/charge cycle reduction will be as there are too many variables but you can use a rough estimate of around 10% reduction as a very approximate guide.

Ok, that is the SHORT version. Hope it helps. Try going to the video reviews section of ECF and looking up some of the videos on Kicks and Darwins to learn more about how all this works together.

Hope this helps.
