Hey builders I've had this idea in my head for a while, and finally got around to it. This my first "knuckle coil" Ive ever attempted, and it's a darn sure success. In fact this coil is so intense with a fresh vtc4 battery, I wouldn't use it as my all day vape, maybe if a cloud competion ever comes to town I'll setup two of these things in a cap, but it simply goes through too much juice.

All it is: a twisted 28ga wire, wrapped 8 times on a 1/16th drill bit (slightly smaller screwdriver actually but close), and then "flattened" into normal knuckle coil. I then evenly straightened the 2 middle coils, to bend the knuckle coil perfectly in half towards itself, to make a pyramid, or "sandwich" for your cotton ( hence the name "knuckle sandwich"). Wicking this coil couldn't be more simple, and it can hold ALOT of juice without making the deck one big cloud. Simply stuff some cotton under the pyramid of hell, and vape away.

It throws e-liquid down your throat, at .6ohms I put 8-10 drops in the first go, and it was dry in 3, 3 second hits! I laughed when I exhaled a huge raincloud because I didn't expect it. The vapor was much more dense than I care to vape all day (never thought I'd say that :p), so I threw a cap on with two 1/8th" holes (never done that for a single coil), and that made it pleasant with an even bigger amount of vapor. I'm a hug fan of nanos and especially micros but I know what I'll be experimenting on this week lol.

I think it works so well because of its waffle-iron like vaporizing, it's clamping that big'old cotton ball and heating it up on both sides, leaving nowhere for heat to escape except for through the knuckles. Definitely proud of this one, I didn't think it would heat right but she glows from the middle out, I think I'll work on making another slightly more tuned down, or even twist one more extra 28gauge with it. Don't believe me try it yourself! :D

Heres some crappy iphone pics:

This ugly first try was .6 ohm, but I made a tighter and more even one that came out to .4 (It could be .5 my multimeter acts up sometimes, and my battery for the vamo is charging).

~XD oyster coil, I like that. I've actually made a braded coil one day of building boredom :p, it lit up really cool, and vaped pretty decent (like a triple twisted coil), but wrapping it on a small drill bit like that just messed up the way the braid looked. I moved to 1/8th" wraps and it looked alot nicer, like actual braids. It vaped better too because there's more juice for that heat.

nice :) I might have to wrap one with open coils, ive only done em with the coils snugged together almost like a micro coil

So have you done it both ways, tight and open coil's?

Great movies Ray :)

just been trying this out.. nvr tried before.. it works nice But not at the nic lvl im @ atm :D

I used my rm2 on the reo trapping the cotton against the posts in like a baseball glove shape and squonking still worked good

the only thing I had problems with is opening the coils out, I cant grab the coils with my fingers and 2pairs of tweezers aren't much better..fingers like bananas.. so I had to wrap each coil separately working along the wire and holding the last against the jig.. came out tidier
