I vaped the same Ody coil for 11 days and it finally died Monday, right in the middle of a meeting at work. All I could do was slip out of the meeting during a bio break, grab a tank/carto fill it and return to the meeting. (I allow vaping at work).
I thought well, 11 days is good enough for a 3 ohm coil running at 7.4V. Better than anything I've ever had before

Later that night, when I got home and sat down to wrap a new one, I realized the coil was fine, the "ceramic cartidge" had unscrewed a bit, just far enough to lose connectivity from the GGTB I was using at the time. All I did was tighten it up and it fired right up. This thing is now on it's 14th day and still vaping like a chimmney. When I popped the top cover off, all I did was gently clean the coil a bit with an old soft toothbrush I have for that purpose

During that period, I learned three things;

1) Carto tanks/carto arrangements - mute flavors and diminish vapor as compared to a rebuildable atty. They were the best thing going for me until the Ody came out.
2) When Imeo says in his video - "make sure the ceramic cartridge is tight", make sure you follow his advise.
3) The Ody is an amazing device, much better than any rebuildable I've tried and I believe I've tried them all

Thanks Imeo!

This is my latest Ody tip in Cocobolo

Your Odysseus has a name now: Lazarus :)

it will be something like this:

Torque looked to his Ody, unassembled it, tightened the ceramic assembly and said: "Lazarus, come back!" When Lazarus came back to the vapor production world, Torque told the GG people: "make sure the ceramic assembly is tight". :D

Today I will use for the first time my Odysseus, I wasn't sure if I should use it, it has a very special meaning to me, last night I unassembled it to take some parts pictures for the wiki. I was waiting for the one I bought on UK, but I can't wait anymore, so I will use the special one.

That Lazarus tip is pretty nice, what about one made with gray wood, it think it will look awesome!

baaahahahaha

On a side note, my wire came loose from the center pin once. The tightener piece above the bottom O-ring loosened and, after I disassembled to remove the wire, I realized the wire just wasn't making contact with the center pin. Tightened it up and it was good to go again. I think I had twisted the ceramic setup when I turned the mouthpiece. (This was before I realized the top cap was in two pieces - *that* simplified everything quite a bit! videos... watch the videos... really *watch* the videos... "OH! That's why it's important to ______!")

I put an atty on while I was making a coil. Yah - couldn't wait to get the ody running again. I was defo "settling" using atties. And I didn't even know it.

So, you're going to use your Ody for the first time tonight? Sort of like, say,,, a Honeymoon experience?? All I can say is be gentle and patient. Don't force anything, take your time, make sure you align things properly before you put them together and yes, remember the vaseline....

I would ask you to post pictures of your experience but you know how that goes...

Cocobolo is evil!!! (I'm allergic too it, I'm a turner too) sure is pretty stuff though!

Rick, good thought. I never knew it but I guess some people are allergic to Cocobolo. It's such beautiful wood.

Maybe I'll stick to just Ebony from now on. A few years ago I bought a really nice hunk of instrument quality Ebony on the net. I made a bunch of .... plates with it since it checkers beautifully. This is it here. The grain has a golden quality to it that comes out in the sunlight.

Torqueguy, what do think the advantage is and why, what's the difference in the design etc fro an Iatty(1).
Why is it so much better?? Please?

LMAO EPIC!!!

I am on day 6 with my current coil I finally learned a good method for dry burning and brushing the coil to get it clean and I do it every night.

I didn't like the plastic parts on the Iatty. I don't want to poke at the iatty mind you, I think it was genius, the Ody is just more so. I also didn't like the small ceramic cup, it was too small and I could never wind a HV coil for it. Lastly, I don't know if Imeo ever made SS Iatty's but I've owned 2 and they were both aluminium and being a soft metal, could or would eventually wear. The Ody is 303 or 304 SS which is practically indestructible.
I'm sure some will pounce on me for this but like I said, I wasn't dissing the Iatty, just the the Ody is pure genius

Yeah! I'm so low on wick, I decided to take another swing at cleaning, rather than rebuilding. I had tried it twice before, but both times it came out very weak after the cleaning, so I just trashed it and rebuilt.

I found that you can thoroughly wash the wick, get it totally dry, then dry burn all the build-up off the coils. I then brush off the char with a small dental brush. The secret I found though, was that it only really worked for me if you unscrew the ceramic/housing from the Ody base, and wash them separately. You just have to make sure the grounding nut stays right where it was, or you could lose the connection to the (neatly trimmed) ground wire. I think my previous attempts failed because I was dumb and left the ceramic screwed into the base, and even though I THOUGHT I had dried it completely, there was still probably water in the base, so I was vaping half e-juice / half water, which was (obviously) very weak.

With the successful cleaning, I'm now on day 6 or 7 with the same build, and its still hitting like a champ

I like that, that is exactly what I did. My last coil which I build on Monday a week and a half ago started tasting a little funky this past Sunday. I unscrewed the housing from the base and soaked it in pga for 10 minutes before reassembling and dryburning. I used pga because I feel it dries quicker and dryburns better. I rinsed it with water after the dryburn, let it dry, and it's performing awesome, pretty much like brand new.

I definitely prefer building a new coil rather than cleaning one especially since it takes less time to build one. But it's nice to know that they can be resurrected effectively if I'm even in a pinch.

Umm I am about 99% sure the iAtty was only made in SS it was 1 run only and I am pretty sure my iAtty is SS,

As for why Ody is better then iAtty I agree. iAtty 1's ceramic was very limiting and this new ceramic has plenty of room to play with longer coils. Also since it is all metal there is much less risk of cross threading. IMHO it is also easier to build.

Thanks for your very kind words torq. Also Iatty was never made from aluminium, it was steel buddy:)
