Mac, Reynolds also announced it was expanding plants that produce smokeless products. The tobacco world is shifting and RJR is moving with it. It actually did better than PM at anticpating the crash-and-burn that cigarettes are involved in.

RJR had (and still does) a very strong marketing push for camel snus. I know I'd never even heard of snus and started seeing the hype in all the stores long before they even got to market. Many months later I see marlboro snus coming out with just a silent "ok fine we got it too"

RJR are also test marketing products like nicotine mints.

RJR knows that their cheese has moved, phillip morris is waiting for the cheese to come back.
