I recently bought the IStick, I was using a Kanger Evod starter kit before. So I just used the Evods tank on the IStick. The single coils are 3.0 resitence I believe. That's what the IStick reads. I don't know much about wattage, voltage or ohm. Anyways back to when I started using the Evod starter kit I bought some juice, the juice I believed was irratating my throat so I read into it, think it was possibly the vg/pg ratio. I switched it up to 70/30. I was also wanting more vapor and less throat hit with all the flavor.
Once I bought the Istick and some new juice at a local shop I set it up with my evod tank and it was awesome! Everything was exactly how I wanted it. I had it set at 4.0v the whole time (whatever that means I still don't quite understand) Until 3 days later the battery was still pretty much fully charged but I started getting a burnt taste. So I cleaned it out, the wick looked fine I figured. Set it back up to continue vaping and now it just kinda sucks. Lots of vapor just no flavor or throat hit at all. I screwed with the buttons a bit. Not wanting to ruin the battery I am leaving it alone and wondering what I should do. Should I buy a different tank/atomizer? If so which one works awesome with the Istick. I am really enjoying the size and the battery life so far. Plus clouds of vapor is awesome.

So new sorry if this sounds really dumbed down.

Don't worry about being new, I'm new too and while I might not know everything I still try my best with the knowledge I have :)

Anyways, I dug up this page which seems like it'd be a decent resource for your issue:

As for what I'd recommend, if you already have an iStick you're already ahead of the game :) A Nautilus Mini would sure go great with it :)

*Also, just thought I'd add this in, the first time I vaped I used a flavour called White Freezee, tasted fine in my Nautilus Mini but once I threw it into my RDA it actually tasted like acid, started buying from my local B&M's in-house line and it was 1000% better on my throat and the experience itself was also much better.

The istick might be overpowered for an evod. I tried one with my protank2's and got tons of vapor but burnt taste even at the lowest setting. From what I've read here, you may want to upgrade to something in the dual coil range. It worked amazing with my EMOW which uses Kanger's dual coil. That's the coil in the Evod 2 tanks as well. You could also go in the aspire direction, though I've never had any luck with them. The nautilus is the top of that line, it uses a Bottom Vertical Coil that should pair nicely with the istick. They have cheaper options that use a different but still BVC coil, like the ET-S and CE5.

See the problem with the istick is that the display doesn't accurately tell you what it's putting out, and has trouble down regulating. So if you're at the lowest setting who knows how much power it's actually putting out. It wrecked two 2ohm single coils on the lowest setting for me.
I traded er in for the older MVP2.0 and I leave it low for protank2(evod coil) and crank it up for my duals(evod 2 coils)

Welcome to the forum.

I have an iStick which I love, but it does run "over-powered". What I mean is the voltage you see on the screen is actually lower than it is putting out. At lower voltage settings it can be about 1 ohm out.

PBusardo done a great review on the istick that you can find here

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_W1G7p_fCJw

This will explain in more detail why the iStick is overpowered. Saying that though it sounds like the when you where getting the burnt taste it has now killed the coil. Have you tried putting a new coil in your Evod?

I use on my iStick the Kanger EMOW tanks which are a bigger and I believe a better version of the Evod's. WIth the Kanger range of toppers you can have a lot of issues with the shop bought coils not being very good and even more noticable on an over powered iStick.

My suggestion is put a new coil in your tank and take the iStick down to the lowest voltage/wattage it will go and start their and move up in small increments till you find the taste and vapour production you like. If you get a burnt taste you have gone too high and dial it down again.

As Black Hazard above mentioned a lot of people rate the mini nautilus with the BVC coils (Bottom Vertical Coil).

Me personally I like the Kanger tanks and I have learnt to re-build the coils myself which saves some money and in my opinion gives you a better vape (more flavour/vapour). I also re-build my coils to a vertical coil and this especially on my istick has improved my vape considerably. Personally I think learning to re-build coils is a must as it does improve your vaping experience.

Here is a thread I posted if you want to have a read on how to re-build the coils to a vertical coil

Hope it helps

welcome cirrus i got to play with a istick its a great unit now it sets the volts to the oms automatic unless you change it 3 oms sounds off to me might have dirty contact at tank to pin the one thing the istick dose not have is a floating pin but it dose have power 17 watts if i remember right i put my nautilus mini on one at 3.5volts and 8 watts 2oms boy did it work and useing the mini tank has a floating pin takes care of the one thing i was worried about good contact between mod and tank
it has a lot of safeties built in to it but with that kind of power it will take out a coil in a heart beat but ther cheep 2.00 or less you do not need to worry about hurting the mod you want a cloud get a nautilus mini

Yup. iStick fires at about one full volt higher than the display indicates.

I would't use any single-coil atties with an iStick--it throws way too much wattage into a single coil than that coil can take. I use only dual coil atomizers, where the wattage is split between two coils. Much safer. I'd recommend Kanger Emow Mega or an Aerotank.

More on the subject of watts and volts and ohms:

Disclaimer: This is the most simplistic explanation and is addressed to new vapers or vapers who are happy within the recommended "just right" power zone (4.5-8 watts) and use stock coils.

Ohm's Law as it pertains to vaping is really not that complicated--and it's very useful when you want to know what you're doing.

Voltage and wattage are often misunderstood by new vapers. Wattage is the power (heat, sweet spot) that your PV (battery and atomizer) generates. Wattage = Voltage (of your battery) squared divided by Resistance (Ω) of your atomizer [P=V[SUP]2[/SUP]/R]. If you're not good at math, don't worry, use this easy calculator:

Online Conversion - Ohm's Law Calculator

Of course, if you own a VW (variable wattage) device, you don't really need this calculator because your device will do the math for you.

The wattage you want, especially at the beginning of your vaping career, should be somewhere between 4.5 and 8.5 watts per coil. Anything lower than 4.5 watts may not vaporize your juice properly and will not produce enough warmth and vapor. Anything above 8.5 watts increases the risk of burning the filler in your cartomizers (if you're using them) or dry with your clearomizers.

There are, of course, other variables, like eliquid and JDD (juice delivery devices) that you're using on your batteries. Seven watts on a filler type cartomizer may feel different than the same 7 watts on a fillerless clearomizer or a dripping atomizer. The same is true for different eliquids; tobaccos, chocolate and coffees generally require more wattage (heat), while fruit and other delicate flavors do better with less heat. Everyone's sweet spot is different--those are just very general guidelines.

If you are using dual coil atomizers, things get a bit more confusing. Dual coil atties consist of two coils configured in parallel, which means that a 2.1Ω atty is really two 4.2Ω coils--so you have to calculate your wattage based on the 4.2Ω number--not 2.1Ω--roughly. Dual coil atties require more wattage than singles, but not quite twice as much. They produce more vapor due to increased surface. I usually increase the power (wattage) by ~50% when using dual coils; for example, if I like 6 watts with a single coil atty, I start at 8-9 watts with a dual coil atty. That's just my preference--YMMV. When in doubt--start low and adjust up as needed.

If you are interested in high wattage (and/or sub-ohm)vaping, that's a different conversation altogether--and not my area of expertise. :)

Experiment and you'll find your own bliss in no time!

The chart below is a good guide to safe vaping, even though some think it's a bit conservative.

Good luck.
