Last time I was on here regularly, the GS Air Fans sub forum was going really strong, but now seems to have died away.

I learned a lot there, so much so that when I was laying in a stock of coils and tanks prior to the EU Legislation and as Back Ups to my Back Up, I bought 100 spare coils and 10 spare GS Air tanks.

These excellent wee tanks are still popular in Spain, so much so that any time I have been in the Vape Shop in Fuengirola there's usually at least one lady buying a new coil ( they are prepared to sell these individually there ) for her's.

In the UK, the Totally Wicked company, who even sponsor a Rugby Team, have issued GS Air Lookalikes under a line they call CS - these even take GS Air Coils.

So my question is, is the board now dead and if it is what are its old members now using if they have given up with their GS Airs?

The GS Air came in several models depending which market you bought them in.

The most common in the UK was the tall thin one which had an air control which you needed a small slot screwdriver to adjust. I could never sense any difference between full open and any other setting.

There was a smaller narrower version which came as a kit with the iStick Basic and slotted into the mod and made use of a magnetic base. This model had a better air control - it was a slider.

In Spain the most common version was a shorter fatter tank with a rubber/plastic external ring to adjust the airflow.

The coils came in two strengths - 0.75 ohms and something like 1.6ohms. In my experience the higher Ohm model was prone to failure in a very short time but with a clear juice the 0.75 could last up to 2 months.

In all the models the draw was looser and airier than a Nautilus.

I never really used one with a highly flavoured liquid but flavour wise I always felt if I made up a batch of 16 strength unflavoured liquid and used it in a Nautilus , it tasted to me like a Senior Service plain virginia cigarette - which would produce a pleasant sense of fullness and satisfaction. The same juice in a GS Air, again to me, resembled the taste of a Player's plain Virginia cigarette. Perhaps more mellow, prone to leaving you with a slight sense of hunger ( for a snack) but with a sharpness of it's own.

I'm sorry I can't give an American tobacco simile - my experience with such was mainly round Chesterfield unfiltered, Marlboro and Pall Mall Superkings plain and it was nothing like any of these!

Finally the Nautilus was more heavily built and possibly better engineered ( over three years on I am still using my original Nautilus Mini whereas I have written off a couple of GS Airs ( the Spanish model - terminal leaking ) in that time.

To compensate - the GS Airs were cheaper and made, for me anyway. a great backstop.

I sill use the GS tanks and coils. My preference is the tank that was sold with the temp control coils. It's a 3ml capacity, 22mm diameter with airflow control. I'm puffing on it now. I only use the .75 coils. I use 12.5 to 14 watts. I get at least 3 weeks per coil and could get more if I wanted. In fact I only have 3 coils left and can't decide to buy more coils or try the Zenith tank with the .8 coils or maybe mesh coils in the Zenith.

I'm always a few years behind the times. My only complaints are the bottom fill. Also as the coils get old they can sometimes flood, easey to fix. In the past I tried different tanks and when I find something I like I just stick with it.

You aren't the only one that's a few years behind the times, said the man happily running his Nautilus and Triton Minis with back ups of GS Airs - I tend to be of the if "if it ain't broke don't fix it" school myself.

These were the first rigs that gave me a decent vape and convinced me that I wouldn't be back to tobacco; they still deliver for me and so I have no real motivation to change them.

I used the GS Air tanks for quite awhile. I also stocked up on them.

I discovered the Joytech Ego One tanks a couple of years ago and left my GS Airs behind. The main reason I prefer them is that the CLR coils are easily rewickable and rebuildable. A CLR coil can be dry burned and rewicked in about 5 minutes. Making a new coil and wicking it takes about 10 min. Really saves money.

I usually buy the .5 ohm or the temp control CLRs and rebuild them to around 1 ohm. They have much more air flow than the 1 ohm coils from the factory, which I like

Unfortunately, they are old technology now also so they're not easy to find. In the US, Vapeshop.com still sells the V2 version when they have them in stock.

Well, I still use mine and love them. Eleaf GS shorty (3 ml, 22 mm diameter) is the only tank I use now--I don't care for the tall and skinny ones. Never had any problems with them.

Eleaf GS-Tank Atomizer 3ml

However, @Foggy Road likes the newer tanks:

I'm a huge fan of anything iStick. I have a pile of them. Never owned a 30w but I know they've always been popular. The subtank mini is an excellent tank. As are the newer GS tanks. I would avoid the original GS AIR, I own 3 and they tend to flood, gurgle and seep if you let the juice level get too low. The newer GS Drive or GS Baby seem to have eliminated that problem. I have 1 Drive and 3 Babies none have leaked a drop and I like to vape my tanks down to the last drop usually so I can change flavors.

My favorite coil is the 1.5Ω dual coil @12-14 watts. All the other ones are also nice, but they are single vertical coils.

....and they are still readily available in the UK; also a Brit firm called Totally Wicked produces their own version called the CS which uses GS Air Coils - the Totally Wicked ones are also sold in Spain as a set with a slim box mod.

They always have their own version of everything. ;)

How do they compare with the Nautilus?

FWIW, I never got on the Nautilus train--I much preferred the Eleaf GS series and then the Joyetech eGo One tanks with those lovely, rebuildable CLR coils.

Never experienced a Nautilus. They were too pricey for me back in the day, authentics still are. Almost picked up a clone recently but haven't yet.
My only experience with the GS series of tanks has been the original GS Air, the GS Drive and the GS Baby.
I got interested in the GS Air because it's coils were better and interchangeable with my first device, the Joyetech eGrip. To me it was fairly typical of the tanks/clearos of it's day. Kinda seepy if left sitting upright for any length of time. No big deal at the time cuz everything was like that. Unacceptable today. I liked the setscrew AFC on it. I recently converted back from DL back to MTL and sought out some new GS Airs just due to that tight AFC. Couldn't have made the change without them.
The GS Air is responsible for my aversion to glass tanks. Busted my first 2 within a week of each other. One just seemed to disintegrate between my fingers as I was refilling! In the end I moved to the plastic Aspire BVC clearos then eventually the ego one Mega V1 tanks with CLRs.
The GS Drive (topfill) came to me in the iStick Amnis kit I had won. Really had no intention of even opening the box. But once it arrived I got curious, and I'm glad I did. Impressive little tank. My first top fill and that doesn't really excite me. I feel like I could use a third hand when opening it. But I like the tank and its fully adjustable Cyclops style AFC. I run the AFC open just between a tiny sliver to nearly a full circle and it works fine for me with the .75 coils. Slap in a .35 mesh coil and open the AFC all the way and this just might be an impressive little cloud chucker but I'll never find out.

The GS Baby is my favorite of three. Basically a Drive without the topfill PITA or an AIR with HUGELY IMPROVED AFC.

Available coils:

.35 (or .3?) Mesh. I have one 1 that came with the Drive. No interest in trying it but I'm sure the Drive or the Baby have the airflow to handle it.

.75 is doing well for me. Runs a little hotter than I'd like on my fixed power devices but that is what it is. I'm sure it would be fine on a VW mod.

1.2 seems unavailable but I haven't searched far and wide for it. Might be just right for my fixed power mods but since I plan to replace the GS tanks with RTAs I'm just not worried about it.

1.5 is a good Tootle coil but a little week on my current chosen devices.
