When a man and woman back in the Old Testament time were going to be married, arranged usually by families, the girl would go back to her family's home and start working on her items for the upcoming groom. She had no idea how long the groom would be gone because he went and started working on their living space, usually attached to his father's house. The bride never knew when the groom would come, but just in case it was nighttime, she would keep plenty oil and wicks for her lamps, shining in her bedroom's window, for the journey to her new home. When the groom would come, with lots of noisy people and trumpets, she had better be ready. It could even be as long as a year or two.

Matthew 25:1-13 - Read the story about the wise virgins who had enough oil for their lamps to light the way for the bridegroom and the 5 foolish ones who wanted them to share their oil. Verse 13) "Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.

John 14:1-6 - (I would type all 6 verses, but I'm hurting too bad.) These are the verses 2) "In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you."

These Scriptures follow the customs of the day, so they could understand the meaning.

All of this points to the Lamb's Wedding Feast, which happens after the rapture, when the Bridegroom comes for His bride, the church. I just think it's kind of cool. :)

Great topic Saints, I had no idea that the bride might have to wait a year or two, talk about patience!!!!!!!! LOL

I think for me, being ready or prepared means to have your focus on God and His will and not this world and it's temptations like materialism, sex, lies, envy, drugs, paganism, hate, keeping up with the neighbors, focusing on your appearance to the point where it becomes your god, money, power, things like that.

What I call being ready is:

1) Accepting Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior
2) Getting unconfessed sin forgiven
3) Going by Scripture - to live and spread the Gospel until Jesus comes back for His church....The Great Commission...
4) Basically, being busy, going about His work until this happens....the rapture.

DB, that pretty much covers it! Is your list different? If it is, how so? I don't think I've ever met you formally. I am happy to know you! :)

Just curious, what is your idea of being ready or prepared?

That sounds about right to me! I would add to the list to always be studying and researching in these last days so that we aren't deceived by Satan. :)

Nice to know you sister Saintscruiser. I think that you summed it up pretty well. My family and I are all pre-trib believers and I pray every day that this would be the day that I get to meet our Lord. This world holds nothing for me…except maybe vaping. LOL

Peace

DB, you actually made me laugh out loud......truly!

I'm with you! I'm a pre-trib-er and waiting for the rapture just any moment. And, I am so thankful that when I meet my Savior, Jesus Christ, I won't smell from cigarette smoke! That has bothered me for years....but not enough to really do anything about it. I remember asking God for help......once. It wasn't long before an answer came. I REALLY didn't expect it to work good enough for me to quit smoking, but I was just hoping that I could at least cut down. With the encouragement from this board, and the 2nd day only smoking 2 analogs, I thought, "Hey....if you're only smoking 2 a day.....you can quit!" I've had some really tough moments, but that's all they were.....moments. I've told so many people that smoking was the last sin between God and myself. Not anymore!:):)
Praise be to God! I give Him all the Praise Honor and Glory as He longs to be close to His children. When I was able to attend church regularly, my Pastor told this story and I've never forgotten it!

An elderly man and his elderly wife were driving in their old pick-up truck heading home from the store. The wife turned to her husband and said, "Do you remember the days when we'd always sit next to each other in our truck while you drove. It was so wonderful!" The elderly husband turned to his wife and said, "I haven't moved." And that is the way it is with God. He doesn't move. It's always us. We're the ones who move, yet God welcomes us back every time we realize what we've done. He is such a loving God. He is a kind God. He is a sacrificial God.....for us. I mean, He is a Powerful God and can do anything He wants.....except sin. Unconditional love.....the closest I have ever experienced that, is with my dog.

We have something to look forward to. Alvin Slaughter - Midnight Cry lyrics & video This is my favorite rapture song.....Midnight Cry by Alvin Slaughter - Whoa......Amein Amein Amein. That song makes me cry (good tears) everytime I hear it. There seems to be a few glitches, but you get the idea. Look at the last video picture....wow! Shalom!
