The only time I'm craving an analog is first thing in the morning

(which my husband thinks is gross, but he was never a morning smoker.)

Right now we both have KR808D-1's and they are working for us. I can sort of make it through that first morning thing if I pop a fresh 18 mg "Kamel" carto onto a fully charged battery and then go to town for a few minutes. But it is my current struggle - very hard not to head down to the store and buy and pack (which I actually did Sunday) and then, of course, I'm screwed because right now it's best not to have them in the house.

Anyone have a suggestion for a carto/flavor/technique to get me over this morning hump? The KR808D1's are working so well the rest of the time and are so easy, I'm not inclined to change models or something over this. But the first smoke of the day with a cup of coffee has been my Waterloo in other quit attempts too...

Pick up some 24 mg, use it for craving times. You've metabolized all the nic while asleep, so your body wants a fix in the morning. (If you're doing OK the rest of the day it likely is just needing the nic bump.)

Either a pack of cartos at 24 or pick up 30ml of Kamel 24mg eliquid and refill an old 18mg carto with it.

Very common.

Good luck!

Today was my first day back at work since the day I started vaping, and I'm sitting here at my desk, jonesing for a regular cigarette. For me, I'm sure it's a situational thing. I just came back in from vaping, I'm a little fuzzy from a nicotine buzz, so I know it isn't a physical craving from addiction, it's just that I always start my morning at work with a cigarette.....

I'm pushing through it.

I have been using e-cigs for almost a year and I still grave that morning smoke. I was a smoker sense I was 17 and that habit hard wired into me now. The only advice I can give is remembering this fact... You arent addicted to cigarettes, you are addicted to nicotine. Just keep that in mind and it should help.

You're right. And when I did cheat yesterday morning, that analog smoke didn't quite "do it" for me either. There is just something about this process that makes you realize that smoking in the morning makes you feel like crap, but you want to do it, and wanting one makes you feel a bit crappy and yet having one makes you feel crappy and yeah...God, I hate cigarettes! Hate them (by which I mean, of course, love them and miss them sometimes.) I am hanging in. This is absolutely the best choice right now for my health, my bank account and my child.

Thanks, I will try it. Though I inhaled so much 18mg that I actually felt slightly sick. There is something else in analogs that apparently has me hooked in the morning. We have some more flavors coming, maybe I need something really intense flavor-wise in addition to more nicotine.

Yes, there seems to be a lot anecdotal evidence to support the "missing something" angle. I'm not sure od'ing/increasing tolerance to nicotine is the best approach to try to satisfy the missing ingredients (which you'll never get) dilemma.

Yeah, I think that is the hardest part. I am a WAHM, but I am used to smokes being my "breaks." Since I can vape in the house, I need to remind myself to take "breaks" even if all I'm doing is vaping. Many, many years of habits to break that have nothing to do with nicotine.

Everyone cheats a little bit. I think its okay to cheat once in awhile. I had a clove cigar on new years. I personally believe that E-Cigarettes are a great alternative to smoking but you should be able to enjoy a real smoke now an again if your really craving one... just dont go out and buy a pack... that would be ridiculous. Especially if you live in NY and a pack would cost you $10.

Yeah, good point. I mean, I am comfortable with vaping now without a deadline, but ideally, ultimately, I'd like to at least minimize if not conquer my addiction to nicotine entirely. So perhaps creating a habit of like, mainlining a ton of it first thing in the morning isn't the best thing and I just need to fight the good fight. From previous quit attempts (without vaping) the intense first thing in the morning craving did dissipate, at least somewhat, after a few weeks.

I don't know if cheating will ever work for me. Maybe if I can bum one. I bought a pack yesterday with the intention of having "just one" and then giving them to a smoking friend but by the time I gave the pack to him, there were like 8 left. :/ I think I at least need to wait a little while before I let myself cheat, develop some new habits so I don't just backslide to where I was.

And they are expensive (I'm in Boston.) I'd like to not be handing out 8 dollar packs to all my friends (much as I like my friends.)

I understand your pain - an only a former morning smoker can. I really like the V4Life WOW Peppermint first thing in the morning and in the evening with a cup of hot tea. They also have some coffee shop flavors I enjoy first thing in the morning. Might be worth a try.

Yeah, we are low on flavors right now, we just had a sampler pack and it's mostly tapped. I think a really strong mint might help. Thanks for the suggestions.

OK I saw "pop on a fresh cart.." in your question.

1. I have a spare charged battery and when I go to sleep I leave the PV exactly the way I want it in the morning

2. Some mornings I need something softer in taste and sometimes I need a hard taste immediately. So right there where I vape I have choices. For me that is juice bottles and I had been mixing in the cart but that is a pain in the morning so....

3. I have taken to leaving 2 PVs set up, ready for my morning vape
a. my normal PV with a plain tobacco juice in it
b. KR808D-1 battery with 901 atty and a 901 cart of something a bit sweet and pretty like velvet vapors Vanilla Almond tobacco - with a small drag this combo also can give a soft easy vapory hit, a bit sweet, gentle and very controllable

And that pretty much covers what I might need in the morning. Sometimes it's a combination of the two. One to kick me and one to soothe me.

Okay, so this is a great level of detail and obviously it's highly personal, but you make some interesting points - perhaps on different mornings I am looking for different things I should experiment a bit to see if I can find a combo that helps me past it. You are right - with vaping there are options, so I should explore them.
