has anyone here tried them? how do they compare to swedish snus?

Tried a Klondike at the 'baccy mart. Not sure if it had any nic, but if it did, I sure didn't feel a tickle. ad2covert (a regular around these parts) used the Nordic Ice for a while and had to do 2 at a time to feel it made any kind of a difference. That's the best I can help.

Away..
Dave, does make one wonder huh?
With all the proposed doom thins hanging over us addicts I think we should at least look into all possibilities.
Might want to start with these and see what we can find on their process, TSNA's levels and such.
I'll have to keep an eye out for some in my area. If you've read many of my posts you know I'll say there is always something we can look at, test or try. lol

This article covers some of it

Nordic American Smokeless v2 - Is there Life after Taboca?

This part is about Grand Prix. Never had it and not recommended according to the article.

About a year ago, I finally got ahold of a can of Grand Prix. I knew about Snus AB and I quickly saw they had no expiration dates. What I didn't know at the time was that Grand Prix was fermented, not steam pasteurized. I do know that I became ill after using three of the tasteless dried out portions.

According to NAS, Nordic Ice Snus has a 12 month shelf life and is rotated by UTSM every 6 months. I asked NAS how UTSM Reps knew when to pull the product if it didn't have expiration dates. I was told there was a special code on the cans indicating age. I have studied the Nordic Ice cans very keenly, and unless you need special glasses or black light to see the code, there is no unique code on the cans. Just the UPC code and Swisher's tobacco license number.

Expired steam pasteurized snus will begin to deteriorate in taste and nicotine content. Even if you froze it (you can with Swedish/Scandinavian snus for one year), starting around 14 months the nicotine will begin breaking down and the flavor will change. The TSNA levels will still be still be what they were when they rolled out of the factory, though.

ya know it always makes wonder..........does BT want snus to fail? they want everyone to stay smoking.

just like in the early 90's with electric cars....the auto industry wanted the electric cars to fail from the start..theres more to it of course

Actually from what I read, Americian snus is made with the idea that people will use it in situations where they cant smoke but they continue to smoke in places where they can. Swedish snus is made with the idea of being used instead of smoking. I also read one of the big differences is that Swedish snus adds bicarbs in their snus which enhanses the kick that it gives. Americian snus doesnt use bicarbs mostly they want you to keep smoking or use a lot more snus.

Away..
Brewster,
The bicarb helps with the pH and adsorbing nic as it changes it to freebase.
Exo and I had a discussion on this and you can do much better using Sodium Carbonate instead of Sodium Bicarbonate(Baking Soda).
Good thing is you can change Baking soda to sodium carbonate by putting it in the oven and heating it @ 400*F for 2 hrs. Use glass to hold it, not metal.

You hit the nail on the head Brewster. BT wants people to buy their snus for the times they can't smoke, then use cigarettes when they can. Swedish snus is a true alternative to smoking period.
