I can't just yet post on the other parts of the forum yet, so I thought I'd share my thought here.

CNN did a review, and in short it was said that the E-Cig delivers no, or nearly no nicotine. Now of course after reading and researching we can make a fair assumption that it is either paid review, or an extremely biased review. (Again I said assumption =D )

Lets just say it *IS* a placebo effect. *gasp shock*

I use what would appear to be 18mg nic juices. Now I'm mostly satisfied with vaping on my normal smokers schedule, with the exception that I now smoke inside my home, at my computer with my lovely 510 passthrough.

Now if I'm getting no nicotine and I'm feeling this good, then SO BE IT, lol. Make a news report stating so if you want. You just prove that it works even better than my hopes. I'm not on drugs after all? GREAT go tell the FDA to fly a kite. And even if I am getting my supposed Nicotine amount, great again! Either way you want to look at it you feel good, so it's a win win(for now).

Big discussion here where the doctor involved is posting: From CNN.com Today

Yeah, that is where I got the general information, but since I didn't have 15 posts yet I came here. This post is now my 15th. I didn't just want to spam out random stuff to fill my post numbers.

It seems that no matter the case we are all happy with the effects of PV's and to me, THAT is the most important part.

I absolutely agree. The personal results are what matter most. I haven't quit fully yet, but I have gone from 1.5 - 2 packs per day of American Spirit Mediums (higher nic than most full strength). If the nic doesn't get to us, why, when I was using 18mg, did I get withdrawal symptoms after a couple of days? I have now gone to 24mg and will be going 36mg as soon as my shipments come in. 24mg stopped the headaches, etc. but I still need a few analogs over the day.

I think a lot has to do with the ritual and seeing "smoke"/vapor as well as the nic:) Now we all know we're getting nic but can also get nic from nrt's that didn't work for us:( The inhaling, vapor and satisfaction of the process I feel is what makes these so great and work, IMHO:)

Rimp, I totally agree with the "seeing the smoke". I swear, even when I was smoking analogs If I couldn't see smoke the "fix" didn't feel like it was there. Now... I don't need crazy amounts of vapor, but I do like to see the result of pulling on my PV and exhailing.

I probably was addicted to the nicotine :D, but the visuals and the motions I was also addicted to. ;)

The article is complete hogwash. I can tell when I've had too much nicotine, ever try Copenhagen or other chewing tobacco? That's how I felt when I started using a quality vaping system; couldn't sleep the first three nights cause I couldn't put the damn thing down! In addition, I have quit many times before, and just the smell of someone smoking nearby or drinking a beer caused serious cravings to buy a pack or bum an analog from someone. Since vaping (almost immediately from the start), I have had no interest in smoking a cigarette whatsoever - almost to the point of repulsion! I know how a nic buzz feels, and I have actually had to order juice and carts at lower concentrations because I enjoy vaping so much.

Just my $0.02 :)

I feel the discussion about the difference in which cigarettes are smoked vs. PVs are vaped is relevant, and that allowed to vape as per usual PVs would deliver more nicotine than was measured in the controlled experiment.

But, let's say for the sake of my comments to follow that only trace amounts are delivered. This would explain to me why some people (such as myself) have dropped decades long cigarette addictions effortlessly, and literally with their first vape, while others have only reduced their smoking after months of vaping, still craving tobacco products. Simply that some people are more chemically addicted than others, who's addiction leans more heavily to the physical habit of 'smoking'. After 35 years of smoking, I've come to relate the act to damn near every activity ... whether I was craving nicotine or not.

In other aspects of my life I've been described as OCD. Well, if I can obsess over whether I've got my PV and supplies in ready, rather than if I have 'enough' cigarettes and a lighter, before I leave the house ... I'd say that's a less harmful substitute. And, it's working for me.

This technology warrents endorsement at governmental levels. The only reason for not getting that endorsement (in my view) is resistance by the tobacco consortium.

Oh, and of course there's the little matter of the enormous sums collected in taxes on tobacco products. This fact might be causing some resistance to vaping on the part of the government. If significant numbers of people quit tobacco ... (you can finish this thought yourself).

I think I mean to say, the physical act of smoking and the physical act of vaping are similar enough that it doesn't quite jive, to me, to call it placebo. At least, not in my case.
