Evening. Chicks landed this morning with no warning they were shipped or when. All arrived alive and starved. Usually I have to show them the food and water. Not this batch. Thinking they might be a bit older. Just glad they are all healthy.

Good morning. Have to go get Kale for the torts. The torts are a bit expensive over the winter months at 20 a week. So have decided for next winter I'll get a couple shop light size grow lights and 5 gallon buckets. That way I can set up in the basement. Kale and collard greens are cool weather crops so they should do well in the basement. Plus I can do it for about 1/2 the price of the Farm XL.

Done I use saffron in all chicken and anything made from hamburger. saffron was a must have in Gram's house. Rivals are also added to chicken corn soup. But you already knew that.
