Were having another heat wave, with hit or miss storms. Meat loaf on the grill, corn on the cob and maybe baked potato. The nest box is way to big for the downsized coop. Wonder if TSC will take it back assembled or do I need to take it apart and put it back in the box?

Good morning. Heat wave here too, rain every day for the rest of the week. I didn't look at the weekend.

Working on putting all my random recipes on cards. Yes, I still do my recipes the old way.

Outside stuff has come to an end for today. 97 real feel no air blowing. Chickens tended and dog yard cleaned. So important stuff done.

No the coops not done. But before I brought the chicks home I did scrub the duck house and put it in the run. The bad part of the duck house is I have to slid the roof panels off to get into it. But all's good in case I don't get done before they start laying. They have just started to check it out yesterday. so wont be to long till laying begins.

Ran to TSC for stuff, they had chicks, which I left without.

Did the same yesterday. Their only 1.00 clearing them out. But they make you buy 4. One of mine died yesterday. She got into the shed sometime through the run hole. The doors were shut so I'm sure she died from a heat stroke. So I went out this morning while it was cooler and got 1/2 off the coop done.

Went for peaches to freeze and realized I was just 4 miles away from Hilltop market so swung by and picked up Italian subs for tonight.

Ours aren't on sale, they randomly have 3 or 4 tubs of them. This time I seriously considered the cornish cross, but still managed to pass. I hate paying $3# for chicken, but also hate the smell of chicken poop.

Good morning. 3-4 chickens aren't to bad. it was the Ducks that really made a mess and stink. Cornish cross you only have to put up with for4-6 weeks then freezer camp time. Order from TSC free shipping

If you figure in the feed and processing might not be a good idea. Did notice the price of chicken at the GRrr store has doubled in the last 6 months.

I refuse to admit that ducks stink. They are too cute to smell that bad.

Feed costs are probably up as well, I haven't looked. We do our own processing, so that parts free.
