I apologize if this is already up but I didn't see one listed as of yet. I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with The Prodigy vs. The Screwdriver. They both look very similar but I see a lot of people are only talking about the screwdriver. Which one is the best to go with?

Considering the manufacturer of the prodigy is the only person to ever smoked it. Would be kinda hard to say.

That's because the Prodigy is only in pre-order right now. There are a very few with a prototype, but not the production model.

I have a SD, and love it. I've also pre-ordered the Prodigy. The Prodigy will be more versatile. With the SD, you use a CR123 3.7v battery and typically a 901 atomizer. Trog produced some 801 atomizer adapters (I have one) but he doesn't like them and I think stopped making them.

The Prodigy will be able to use CR123's (one at 3.7v and a spacer, or two 3v for 6v output) or an 18650 at 3.7v and about 3 times the battery life (cr123's are around 800-1000mAh, and 18650's are 2200-3000).

The Prodigy will support 801 and 901 atomizers at launch with plans for adapters for pretty much every atomizer on the market eventually.

The SD is made by Trog in the UK, and the Prodigy will be/is made in the USA.

Did I leave anything out?

The way I see it... 901 version will be about equal. (3.7v) - but I believe Prodigy will last 2-3 times longer, due to the battery size. Some are saying that SD last about 8 hours +... Prodigy probably would last even longer than that, thanks to the longer battery.

Prodigy's power will really shine with 6v, as it seems - with 801 atomizer, as seen on the video.

If you have multiple atomizers laying around - prodigy might be a better option, especially 401/510 users as well - so that you'd be able to just switch the adapter and vape.

For people in US, Prodigy is also cheaper option. SD, which I've ordered a couple days ago, is about 160+ dollars including shipping - so Prodigy is cheaper.

But, it does seem Prodigy is a pretty big unit - maybe an inch longer than SD, perhaps. As per aesthetics, it's very subjective... I'm planning to get a Prodigy in near future, probably 801 or maybe 510 version when it comes out. I haven't ordered prodigy yet - but I ordered SD instead, as it's an already proven model to be an excellent e-cig, although I"m quite sure that prodigy will be aa great, if not greater e-cig in terms of performance. :D

IMHO, 8 hours is unrealistic on the SD, since it uses the CR123. Maybe if you are a medium to light vaper. In 8 hours, I will probably have changed my battery twice, and be on the third. I'll at least be almost ready to change the battery again if I've only changed it once. I'm a pretty heavy vaper. I can see the 18650 battery lasting me 8 hours though.

[edit] I'll also add that I change the battery at the first sign that the vapor is lessening. I don't wait for it to quit.

That is one reason I am going with the LV vs the Prodigy. I can still use the 18650 battery and get the benefit of the long life, at 1/2 the cost of the Prodigy.

I do see value in the adapters and the sealed battery. IF you are using different types of attys (I only use 901's). As far as the sealed battery, I drip and have no problems with my SD or even with my passthrough setup (Although I don't use it a lot) so doubling the price to get those 2 options would not be worth it to me..........

Although for those that want an SD type device I can see the attraction as it is slightly less expensive. EDIT: I also agree with Walrus' comments on the SD battery. I could easily go through 2 full batteries in 8 hours (if I want to maintain max vapor and throat hit). It's not a big deal since I have 6 CR123 charged at all times and they are very cheap.....SD is my primary vaping device.....

I've owned the SD for sbout a week and just received the GG this morning. both have real nice vapor. both of them meet my prerequisites for my main smoke. can't make any judgements though before I make a comparison test between the two.(not nuff time in the day yaknow)...can't wait to put the Prodigy up against them. admittedly it sounds nice and the american made aspect is cool but I want to see for myself......Lord this is getting pricey

I haven't used either one as of yet. I am think of ordering one and looking at them, the one thing that strikes me is the button on the Screwdriver. It's on the end. I tried hold my 901 that way with my finger on the end and it felt very like a very unnatural twist of my wrist. At least with the Prodigy the button is more typically located like a normal manual e-cig. I'd think that would be more comfortable to use.

There is another one from zimoshi.com that I really like the layout of. You'd hit the button with your thumb and that strikes me as the most natural way of gripping and using such a device. If you go through his videos, the last one is a slide show video of how to make one. A couple of rather minor detail are missing like the value of the resistor he used, but the color bands show so it'd be easy to figure out. His is only $75.00. If I were to buy one today that's the one I'd get if I didn't make one my self. I'm looking for the parts to see how much it adds up to.

I was actually lucky enough to test the prototype of the Prodigy when Steve brought it over one night recently. I don't have a SD to compare it to, but I do have a Lightvaper from ZiMoshi. (Ted)

The Lightvaper is an awesome vaping machine! It feels very sturdy to hold and the button is very handy and easy to use. I provides clouds for days and I can vape heavily for 10 hrs (minimum) per charge on each battery. Ted really knew what he was doing and I don't think it would be as easy to replicate as you think if you see it in person. It's a very well built vaping machine!

I am sooo excited about the Prodigy! I love the looks, feel, ease of use, and the positioning of the button. The button is recessed so there's no fear of it getting accidentially pushed in a pocket. It's smaller, lighter in weight, and sleeker than the Lightvaper, yet still maintains a solid feel. It also provides clouds of smoothe vaper with every draw. 3-4 second hits were plenty strong enough for me. (Even though Steve takes 6-8 second hits) I firmly believe it's going to be the best device available. There's also something to be said for the warranty he's providing. It's a nice insurance policy if you ask me.

I couldn't tell you anything about the battery life as I only got to use it one night.

Both are extremely solid in construction and both are worth every penny paid for them.

Sorry I don't have an SD to compare for you, but I thought I'd add what I do know.

For a lot of people I'm sure it'd be difficult to make. I'm a old hand at things like that. Anything from diesel mechanics, building housing tracts and shopping centers, to fabrication in variou scales and such. I'm also a avid model airplane builder. I always build from scratch and avoid kits. A project like this is right down my alley.

I'm glad to hear the good words on the Lightvaper. I would order one from him if I could. He'd got a very reasonable price. Unfortnately, he won't even be back for another couple months and I've got a burger king mintality. I want it my way, and I want it now. :p

The Prodigy does look good, but I just can't see that much money for one. Way too many other toys to buy. Worst part is everytime I buy a new toy, my list keeps growing instead of getting shorter.
