Ok, So I have been looking around on here for a while now, looking for a few answers to my questions. I am sure they are here somewhere, but I just can't find them, so I'm gonna ask! My situation is; My husband and I have finally decided to switch over to e-cigs. We have been wanting to for a while, but the cost for getting started is kinda prohibitive! :(, So we just decided to bite the bullet, next payday, and get started by buying a basic starter kit with two complete e-cigs, this weekend. I have been researching for a while here on ECF, and I have narrowed it down to the JOYE 510 Black Electronic Cigarette Starter Kit, from The Vapor Pro.com for $47.95. Or the Joye 510 NoBox with PCC, from Cignot.com, for $65.00. Both are 2 complete e-cigs with the exception of the Cignot site adding the PCC, and it is no box, (so does that mean it is a generic Joye 510?, I can't see a brand on it anywhere?)
So, here are my questions:

1. These both say they come with pre-filled cartridges, are these cartridges re-fill able, or will we need to buy some blank carts? Also, with this model, if we decide to try cartomizers when we are a little more experienced, will we be able to switch out?

2. How long does a typical battery last for one of these models? My husband will be using one, and he works 10 hour shifts, so would a battery last him a whole work day? (He has 2-20 minute breaks, and a half hour lunch + the drive to and from work) (we will be buying a manual push button style) This is one of the reasons why I am considering the kit with the PCC, as I am wondering if he is going to need it? I know eventually we will need more parts, accessories ect, but we have to start with the very basic here, just so we can get off the damn analogs, and start saving the money we need to buy more things we need.

3. How safe are the batteries??? I have been reading some concerning posts about batteries exploding, and is this more of an issue with mods, or is it something to worry about with just a plain e-cig too? Also are the batteries with this model adequate for normal everyday e-cig use? (I am actually afraid of ALL rechargeable batteries now, eyeballing my cell phone and camera with fear!)

4. How much e-liquid? It is my understanding from a few who were heavy smokers, that a 30ml bottle of e-liquid will last them about 5 days or a little more. Is this true? My husband and I smoke about a pack of Camel lights a day each, and I have learned that Camel lights have about .19 mg of nicotine, so I was going to start there for nicotine level, but what is a good estimate for juice usage? I would hate to think we are all stocked up till pay day on juice, and then run out the week before pay! LOL

I think that about covers it! If anyone also has some suggestions on better prices for the kits I mentioned, I am all ears! We don't have a lot of money, but we really need to get off these analogs! Our health needs it, and our wallets! If anyone has any advice for me, I would be most grateful. I realize that veterans to this site probably see confused noobs like me, all the time, and I also realize that if I looked harder, I could probably find these answers, but I have looked so hard already, and we are getting down to the wire for placing our order, and I need to know! So Thank you! Thank you very much! And I look forward to hanging out with everyone here, and learning as much as I can while I go. Take Care!

The ones at Cignot that say Joye are Joye

And 2 complete ecigs is not enough for 2 people unless you also buy 2 spare batteries and spare atomizers in case of failure. And a second charger for overnight. So you might as well buy 2 kits.

And you need eliquid. And please rethink it if you were planning to buy auto batteries. I do not recommend auto batteries.

If you can stand not having slim ecigs, a Riva 510 Lite Bundle at Liberty-Flights.com with 2 complete 750mah Rivas is under $30 if you pressed the 20% off on their front page. With that I would also recommend eliquid!!, a couple of normal resistance 510 atomizers (the LR ones that come with Riva are too hot for a beginner I think), a second Riva charging cable, and some standard resistance Boge cartos. Even then, I think one more battery each would make it perfect. So cheapest way would be 2 kits, some standard resistance atomizers and juice.

It's not a generic, it just doesn't come with a fancy box. Nothing more, nothing less.
So, here are my questions:

1. These both say they come with pre-filled cartridges, are these cartridges re-fill able, or will we need to buy some blank carts? Also, with this model, if we decide to try cartomizers when we are a little more experienced, will we be able to switch out?

These carts can be refilled many times and you can use cartomizers, too. As long as what you want to use is for the 510 (which is nothing more than the threading) it will work. I would strongly suggest buying cartomizers because most people find that carts are just too messy and difficult to deal with.

If you smoke less than half a pack per day then the regular 510 batteries will be just fine. They only last around 2-3 hours if you're vaping them heavily. If you smoke more than half a pack per day then I would suggest getting either a Riva or an eGo. These are bigger batteries and look more like cigars, but they'll last you at least 6-7 hours or more.

These batteries are safe. In over 8 months worth of vaping, I've never had one do anything except work. The concern with batteries exploding is more with those that aren't protected or using "safe chemistry." If you accidentally activate them in your purse or pocket while there's an atomizer or cartomizer on it, then it might catch fire. Usually this doesn't happen if you're careful. It is something to be concerned about, but not so much that it scares you into not vaping. I use rechargeable batteries on a daily basis and I've never had one explode or melt down on me.

LOL

I usually go through 3-5mls of juice per day. This is about the average for a moderate to heavy vaper. Don't base the nicotine level on what you've smoked. It doesn't really work that way. I started with 24mg so I could get through my cravings, then I started switching between 24mg and 18mg. Now I vape 18mg exclusively. You might not need to do this, but it worked for me. I suggest getting some small sample sizes in a couple of different strengths so you can try different flavors and find the nic level that will work for you.

I think that about covers it! If anyone also has some suggestions on better prices for the kits I mentioned, I am all ears! We don't have a lot of money, but we really need to get off these analogs! Our health needs it, and our wallets! If anyone has any advice for me, I would be most grateful. Check out Liberty-Flights.com for Riva and eGo kits. They have 20% with a code that you can get by clicking on the Discount Code tab at the top of the page. They're kits are extremely reasonably priced. I also recommend VaporBomb for juice. They have some samples you can buy and lots different flavors!

Welcome to ECF! My answers are in the italicized red. I hope this helps!

While vaping is far cheaper than analogs, it still requires the same type of budgeting to have enough supplies to make it from payday to payday. We would have never allowed ourselves to go without analogs and juice and hardware have to be thought of the same way imo.

Solid advice, this. You have to consider shipping times, too. If you're down to your last atty or carto or down to the last 10mls of juice, then you might be in trouble. Most vendors will ship within 24 hours, but it might take three or four days at a minimum to get to your mailbox. I've been in this position and boy, did I ever bit my nails over it. Luckily, one juice vendor hit my mailbox in time to save my stupid ..... I've never let that happen again!

    in a cave, eh?
The 2 510 kits you're looking at are mini-style e-cigarettes. Although you get 2 sets of batteries, you really need the PCC to keep you going throughout the day. Battery life on a 510 is pretty bad. But the 510 system is compatible with lots of accessories.

Someone suggested a Riva, which is a fat battery model. It'll give you way more battery life. Depending on your usage, 2 Riva batteries may be enough for the day and then some. Riva atomizers and cartomizers are compatible with the 510 system. Additionally, the Riva battery can handle low resistance atomizers if you need more flavor and vapor from your e-cigarettes. The Ego is also compatible (smaller battery with the starter kit, though).

And if you're still shopping around, you might want to look at: Bloog MaxxFusion (with PCC), Ego, Riva, Echo, Echo-E, etc. I always see a few new deals when I hit the new posts link. When you see a system you think you might like, just search the forum for the pros and cons.

You should always have at least 2 spare atomizers and 1 spare battery just in case. A passthrough is great if you can't wait for your batteries to finish charging. Unfortunately, there's a big investment up front, but if you get a good system, it'll pay off in the long run.

The most frustrating part of your search will be the myriad recommendations proffered. The actual 'ritual' of vaping will vary based upon which units you purchase. Just go to the Model Specific Forum for the idiosyncrasies for your model chosen.

I started with and continue to use the eGo Mega kit with extra batts and even bought some Mega T accessories. I'm still using ALL of my original components after 7 weeks. I highly recommend the kit and extras. The only time I'm disappointed is when I rush and ignore my learning curve lessons.

Best of luck to ya'll... At some point you'll have to make that 'leap' to rid yourself of the tobacco anchor. Just do it when you think you have enough info. There IS just what you need out there. But it may be an adventure to discover what that IS is.

I don't have any specific brand. I just strongly suggest you revisit the thought of the "slim" battery model. I don't think you'll be happy because they won't last long as everybody's pointed out.

That being said, if you're really tight and the 510 is all you can afford, how about getting it with the intention of decreasing the amount you smoke? That in and of itself is an accomplishment.

You should definitely check out LibertyFlights, with the 20% code you could get 2 complete Riva bundles for less than the one standard 510 kit you mentioned, and you won't have to mess with the PCC or be constantly switching batteries all day.
Also, If you're really sticking to a budget making your own liquid can be a serious savings. The up-front cost is higher, but I make my own liquids for around 3-5 dollars an ounce compared to 15 from a vendor.

I agree with checking liberty flights and also an ego kit. I got a kit with 2 complete egos, a charger and 5 carts for less than 50.00. In all honesty my battery last me all day and night. I am in my vehicle working 12 hours shifts, vaping away and one battery is all I use. If your working a regular 8-12 hour day, you could actually get by with one kit and each of you have an ego because the battery life is so much better. Then you have extra money for juice, cartomizer, etc. This will also give you time to be sure vaping is for you and not have spent a fortune.

My husband and I got the tornado T from Totally wicked. They are more then the ones you picked but we havent had a whole lot of problems with them. One of the batts will last me 9 + hours depending on how much I vape that day.
I used to smoke a pack a day of marbrol reds and I vape 24 mg 1-2 ml a day. Also I have noticed with myself, the more I love the flavor the more I will vape in a day.

At your level of smoking I can say that without a doubt unless you buy at least 4 more batteries, what you have in mind isn't going to work and for a 10 hour shift you need a PCC too. If you're like me, going to get that vape when you really need it and hitting on a dead or just about dead battery will absolutely drive you nuts.

I'm not the only one that makes this recommendation but, I'm one of the few. Take a look at the e-power. It has a 510 connection and is similar in styling to an eGo but, it uses generic batteries that are cheaper to replace and last longer on a charge than most eGo models. You can get it at madvapes, gotvapes, and hoosierecigsupply among other places. Breezesmokes has one that'll take an 18650 battery. That might be a bit of a handful but, it'll probably go a couple days on a charge.

    The regular e-power takes a 14650 battery (1050 MAH).
The 18650 goes as high as 3000 MAH

Although I have no bias against any of the venders mentioned, I do commend you on your choice of shops. I have been a long standing Cignot customer and can tell you that "Vicky" has always given outstanding customer service. Everything they carry is genuine "Joye Tech" brand. If all the information sounds confusing right now, just email Cignot and explain your situation and your past smoking habits. I cannot overstress good customer service during and after the sale. Especially for a first time customer/vaper. Vicky will make sure you are satisfied with your purchase. And welcome to ECF!

My own recommendation would be to go with a larger battery model such as the EGO. The smaller 510 batterys are fine, but battery life between charges is 1-3 hours depending on how often your vaping. An Ego is the next step up and 4 batteries between the both of you should work out just fine as a starting point.
