Do you have a quitting ceremony? Is it working? :)

I had 3 weeks of transitioning from smoking to vaping. I decided Sunday 3/16 was to be the last day of smoking for me. Monday morning I was going to transition 100% to vaping. I didn't vape at all Sunday. I smoked ciggs all day. I stayed up till 2:30am trying to finish off that pack. When I was sure I couldn't smoke another one I filled the pack and remaining ciggs with some gunpowder (I reload ammo). I brought the pack outside and set it in a small fire pit. Then I sat down and forced myself to have one more cigg. It was about 18*F BTW. When I had finished that last cigg I stuck it to a long stick and plunged it into the pack full of gunpowder. PPSSSHHHHHH!! it went off like a mammoth sparkler. And that was that. I haven't smoked a cigg since then.

I know the vaping is what's keeping me sane, and my willpower is doing it's job but I think having that little ceremony was the period in the sentence for me.

Am I the only one that's done something weird like that to help themselves with quitting?

Yeah it was fun actually. It was a good excuse to burn off some unwanted powder too. :)

Good idea EBates. I don't have any ciggs to hand off but I did buy a few egos from Ebay to try and get some family members into vaping instead of smoking.

cbrite, do you still get urges to smoke after 2 1/2 months?
How bout you Ebates, do you still have cravings or urges to smoke after 291 days?

Ha! I think my ceremony was the day I got my ego starter kit and used it all day with great success. Then I had the ego in my hand, and was looking all around thinking, "Where did I leave my cigarettes?" It hit me very hard in a good way: "I'm not a smoker anymore, and I don't have to find them." They can stay lost forever.:)

No ceramony here, but I've been vaping since Christmas, (gift for wife and I from sons) We started vaping, my wife was very skeptical, and never gave up the saying that she didn't know if she would quit, but liked the vaping. We cut way down, on day I just didn't do it anymore, she had cut down to about 3 a day. when the cigs we had run out she just didn't get any more. I'm 20 days she is 4 days, but both doing great and loving it. She just ordered $200.00 boots, as a bonus for quiting. I just order more Vape gear. You need to get a signature banner, they have them on the site here, and a lot of vendors have them you can copy and use here.

Nope, I really believe I'm Clean. Never even wondered what I might be missing. I have been floored with the easy transition from cig to vape. The longest I had ever gone was 8 months in my last failed attempt years back. And even then I'd bum OPs from buds.
Now though smokers are a subculture. Everywhere is No Smoking. I only occationally see people smoking. Back when, smoking was still main stream. No escape.
Got my vape toys and juice. All is right with the world.
The PIF thing is also good stuff. You get rid of some of the things you no longer use. And just maybe get someone to quit smoking for your effort.

I got my starter kit in the mail at work, filled it, vaped it and never picked up a cigarette again. I handed an unopened pack to a coworker the next day, who has since vaped to stop smoking and then stopped vaping and is nicotine free. That was the "ceremony" moment for me. I had given up the last remaining cigarettes I had and refused to buy a pack. And I never touched one from day one of vaping.
