No the points awarded or subtracted are just a fun way of acknowledging good posts or mistakes. (posts that don't match the criteria outlined in the 1st post of this thread)
The firsts post of this thread explains what needs to happen to make a song match the previous one. In short a minim of a three consecutive letter match in either the song title or artist name. The a song can only be played once (regardless if by another artist) so the search tool should be used to avoid this. and no back to back posts by the same artist.
