The Throat Hit Thread

Well I have seen many factors that supposedly determine the amount of throat hit.

I have heard it is the nicotine mg and I have heard that it is the PG rather than VG that provides more throat hit.

Here are my questions...

I purchased all my stuff in 11mg. PG base. Havnt received the package yet.

Does higher nic levels posses more throat hit?

Does PG rather than VG posses more throat hit?

Or does this just all depend on the flavor?

Havnt really found an answer yet. I think I may do a science experiment with this.

I am thinking of doing a high strength PG juice then a low strength PG juice and see where more throat hit lies. Then do a high strength VG and a low strength VG and see where more throat hit lies. I would do each test in Menthol and in another flavor that way there would be an extra variable.

I would imagine this test would put all theories to rest.

Increased heat of vapor can contribute to throat hit, as well. This can be achieved by using a manual device which will allow the user to run the atomizer longer, and hotter. Another option to increase heat is to use a device that runs at a higher voltage than a typical e-cig.

The bottom line on throat hit is that everyone perceives it uniquely. A new vaper may find an e-cig is very harsh while another new user will be wondering where the throat hit is. Use your new stuff for a few weeks and decide for yourself if you feel you need to chase throat hit or are you satisfied with what you have.

Looks to me like the battery exploded! Glad the person who owned its okay!

His advice is to be aware that batteries can explode! Use LifePo Batts if possible. Sure, they are a few bucks more...but arent YOU worth it?!?!

Another point I beelieve hes trying to make is that ecigs arent built for safety, they are simply battery holders. UNPROTECTED BATTERIES CAN, AND WILL EXPLODE!!! Be aware of this and always buy protected batteries!

;)

Another guy mentioned some batteries for his mod exploded in his backseat while driving, thank goodness they were in his backpack AND in the backseat. Noone was injured he said, but his belongings were ruined. They werent even in the device either. PROTECTED PEOPLE! PROTECTED BATTERIES! These things are in our faces! Lets be careful!

That's a good place to start. You've got room to move in both directions.
Does higher nic levels posses more throat hit?
Yes. This is primarily where you'll get your throat hit.
Does PG rather than VG posses more throat hit?
Not in any appreciable way, I've found. At 3.7v and 6v I didn't notice any real difference that couldn't be explained by random output from the atty.
Or does this just all depend on the flavor?
To some extent, yes. Menthol is a flavor, but also has an extra ingredient. I've heard that tobacco flavors provide more throat hit, but so far I've never found one in the Dekang line that proves this true. Over the course of a few dozen flavors (all Dekang... and whatever litecig uses) the only consistency I've found is that menthol > all in terms of throat hit by flavor.

I would imagine this test would put all theories to rest.
Throat hit from nic content is pretty easy to prove for yourself. A bump in nic (such as 11 to 18) will be immediately noticed, but subtle changes from PG to VG could also be the result of variable battery/atty activations. There probably is a difference, but it gets swallowed by all the other possible factors.

I definitely think flavor can be a factor. Case in point: My current favorite flavors are vanilla and black cherry (I have them both in 18mg PG formula from Johnson Creek). The vanilla is very mild and I don't find it gives me much throat hit. The black cherry flavor, on the other hand, has a bit of a bite to it and gives me more of a throat hit.

Wow, Breakfastchef, what did you do or say to get banned from GG threads...... Not condemning you, cause I got banned from ECF and then reinstated...... Don't want to go into my details on my banning because I don't want to get banned again.......

Learned a valuable lesson...... Be carefull who you disagree with....... Could be wrong, but I think some people here are more important than others.......
I really like ECF because I am learning about E-Cigs...... I won't say anymore, just be carefull...... Not fun to get banned.........

I get good throat with totally wicked e liquid

i consider myself to be a bit of a throat hit connoisseur. And the TW 18mg Marlboro i have does have a decent throat hit , at 5v with an 801 atomizer.

the absolute best throat hit i have ever had is liquidxpress , honey-flu-cured juice , 26mg dripping in a 510 atty at 3.7v.

I use a 510 and just got 36mg Menthol from LiteCig along with a USB passthrough and finally get a nice throat hit (comparable to a Newport). I still can't seem to match the flavor though.

It seems the USB works better than a fully charged battery for this, not sure if that's true or not. It just seems that way.

that is true BriDog , a USB Pass will give you much more consistent power , even a freshly charged battery drops off in voltage very quickly

Is there anything that beats the 510 with USB power in terms of throat hit? I've tried a 5v mod and it didn't seem that much stronger to me. Well the 510 IS already a strong hit, just wondering if there was anything stronger you guys know about.

i still get a better throat hit with a 510 my 3.7v protege' than a 510 on a 5v device.
