So I was playing around last night with my Nimbus rba after having a conversation with a friend about some coil ideas which essentially was the idea of a coil within a coil. I finally ended the evening with what I want to show you today.

Ladies & gentleman, I present to you, the Turbine Coil...

This bad boy is a combination of a 28 gauge 20 wrap nano coil INSIDE a 28 gauge 5 wrap maxicoil. Measuring out at .625 ohms, this is one coil concoction I've become impressed with.

It's hard to explain how it's wicked, so I'll give it my best.

What I did was take a length of cotton and threaded it between the two coils along the top half. Once through, I brought the cotton back through the bottom half between the two coils again, filling in the gap. I then pulled the cotton tight against the nano coil, making sure the end of the nano was open. On the other side of this beast, I cut then stuffed both ends under the coil for wicking, making sure to leave the nano coil open. I then took my nano coil jig and stuffed the cotton a bit into the space between the two coils.

So far it's turned out to be my favorite coil for my RBA so I wanted to share. It doesn't hold much juice, but it has GREAT flavor and a large full-bodied vape.

Please, enjoy :)

been doing a similar coil in the past few weeks. this coil starts out at a 2.5mm for 4 wraps then goes to a nano coil for 4 wraps then back to the 2.5 size. once wrapped i squeeze them kind of together, so basically i also have a coil inside a coil. i then also stuff the cotton sort of around the nano. works real good but takes a lot of time. in the end with all the coil configurations i have done its a trade off really, some do perform slightly better then others and it seems the ones that do take more time, in the end though sometimes i just don't have the patience and i just make a regular micro and be done with it. but it is very cool to see all these variations, i love it!

You read my mind...I was thinking of this concept on my drive home tonight. The only difference would be I want to try both coils the same length, but different wire gauge. Like a 32awg core, and 28 awg sheath... Or closer gauges with nano/micro core, wrap cotton or silica, then a traditional coil wrapped right over the wicking material

20 wraps of 28g, how long does it take to fire? What do you do, press the button, count to 10 then hit?

Believe it or not it fires up pretty damn quick, but I also use VTR4 30amp batteries :) Typically, if it doesn't fire up right away I don't use it (read: Clapton coil)

I was considering on doing the same when I built it but I didn't have any 32g on me (still dont). Of you give it a try, let me know how it works! :) My main concern is how well the 32g would preform.

I hear ya broth'a! This would be my goto coil if I could get it to hold more juice! My friends and I all see vaping as finding what works for you best, which isn't always what's craziest :) for now my goto is a dual nano dragon setup.

I just had this idea after seeing a coil like this for a boiler and thought about building one. Did some searching and looks like you guys beat me to it. I was thinking of building this as a chimney style coil with the cotton between the inner and outter coils allowing the the center coil to be open for air to pass threw. 2 wicks, 1 for each side on my KFL+, the wicks would run in the bottom and back out of the top returning to the deck. So 2 wick ends for each channel. It seemed like a really great idea to me. Debating on using one piece of wire for the whole thing to wind up with around a 2.6-3.0 ohm coil.

Let me know what you guys think, I have to wait on my kanthal to get here or I would of done this tonight. If either of you build one on your kayfun style devices please post a pic for me.

Here's where my idea came from.

3-4am ideas are the best, drilling 100 2" holes for a boiler is not lol

Did the same a couple months ago and posted. The inception coil. It was a vertical coil with a 24Ga outer wrap and a 28 Ga inner wrap. Ripped like a champ, but dried in 2-3 puffs.

That's the same issue I had with this one. It doesn't hold juice to save a life and I can't figure out a good way to get it too unless you pile cotton onto the top of the coil built. I was hoping that having the ends of the Nano Coil sticking out from the sides would provide better wicking power, but I was either wrong or I didn't to it right :?

I think a build like this in a KFL would defiantly work better than as a dripper because you'd have better access to juice. I had thought about building this into my Aqua, but since it's a dual coil tank it would end up being a quad coil build which might (or might not) push things over the edge... at least for me. Worth a shot though. I was also thinking that this could be a good build (albeit tricky) for a Fogger.
