Here is one of my latest mods for 801’s. It is styled after the well known Janty Stick.

It uses the 14500 battery, I get 9 to 12 hours on this baby. I am using 801 battery connectors I got from Nerf. They are great to solder on! I soldered wires on it and left the center hole open, more on that later. I cut a 801 battery tube about an inch long and drilled a mounting hole in it, then pressed in the connector assembly with a vice.

I drilled a 7/16 inch hole in the AA battery box for 801 ato clearance. Mounted the connector tube assembly to the battery box. Installed a mini switch and wired it up.

I installed a wad of paper towel in the open end of the connector tube. This will soak up the juice when I drip in case of a ato leak.

The open hole on the connector tube (battery connector) has great airflow just like the JS. It works great with BECI pen atomizers (others too).

Some things I don’t like about my JS:
The battery cap is easy to lose
The atomizer inserts too deep, hard to remove sometimes.
Switch is cheep and poor. Won’t last
Battery too small, 14500 are way better.

My ugly stick solves all of these issues.

The ato is very stable when secured in this manner. I am working on a cap or plug for the battery connector tube in order to regulate air flow. I want to find the optimum air flow.

I have some 901 factory carts. The round type not shapped like a D hole.
The factory cap on these carts fits perfectly on my ato connector tube.

An adjustable air inlet is a nice idea. I was thinking of the plastic salt dispenser tubs where one part rotates so that one can select how many small holes are uncovered; perhpas something like this (but smaller).
