seeing as they aren't a single piece but small stacked batteries, I'm sure length is probably all over the place.

Greg, adding a washer or two should probably make it happen :)

SKYY, what's your run time like?
It's hard for me to say Steve. I switch between mods alot during the day. Mine is working without any spacers however. I have the V3.1 switch assembly.

Hmmm ... Good to know SKYY ... I do know not all flat top batteries are the same ... I really believe the main issue is where the plastic stops on the top of the battery. Some have thicker plastic's than others for insulation... some of the thinner ones expose the top a bit better.

So I've heard that 5 volts, for many people is the 'sweet spot'. I have a v3 (no v3.1 switch) and have found that the 6 volts is a bit too much like smoke for me. I also tend to get juice splattering up through my drip tip. I run a std joy 510 atty. Would the 5 volt batteries work? If so, any plans at Puresmoker to start making the option available in a starter kit?

Oh yeah, battery safety. What's up with the super heated battery GregH? Is it a continuing problem?

I never could get it to work and stopped trying. The flat top just simply would not make contact with the 510 adapter. I could have tried a magnet. But I almost shorted a 14500 with one of those once; the battery got super hot in my Icon. So given how hot these 5v cells got during normal charging, I decided (for once) to leave well enough alone.

Man, that is really disappointing to hear. Unfortunately I can't justify buying something that may or may not work. :(

Ouch! I'm admittedly no battery expert, and I really hate being an alarmist. But those 5v batteries just don't seem like a good idea at all. I'm glad I didn't pursue them any further than that first day.

Regarding your ruined spring, you can get a replacement at Home Depot or Lowes. They sell a box of 84 assorted springs. 4 of them are exactly like the one that came in your V3. The box is around 4 or 5 bucks. If you need it, I can post a link that shows you what the box looks like.
