The very first time . . .

Just started last night, and I'm not quite so sure about this experience. I bought the Joye Super eGo kit on the recommendation of some folks on this forum (and what a great group you all seem to be!). The taste is okay – though I have no idea what the flavor is in the 5 cartridges that came with it – and a bottle of Virginia tobacco e-liquid to use when the cartridges run out.

Two questions. It kind of hurts when I inhale, feels something like swallowing a rock; is this normal at first? And, where do you put the liquid when you don't have a cartridge (yes, this is probably an idiot question)?

I really hope this works out for me and I can get off the old cigs. Any help appreciated.

I keep my liquids on my desk. Some people say to keep them in a dark and dry place, but I haven't had any problems in the 4 years I've been vaping. I think it's just a personal preference thing. You'd want to follow the same kind of guidelines if you have young children or animals though. Keep out of reach and all that. As for the inhaling, it's something that takes some practice. When I smoked, I always drew the smoke into my mouth, and then into my lungs. I never actually drew it straight into my lungs which is apparently how most smokers do it. So for me, vaping was the same as smoking. But the secret for most previous smokers, is slower but longer draws. You can't take a drag on these like you do cigarettes. Or you could try it the way I mentioned, by drawing the vapor into your mouth first, and then inhaling it into your lungs.

Yup, Slow and steady does the trick. I'd replace the liquid in the tanks when you can...not the best usually I've found. As for how to vape the trick is to savor the flavor. You get a good long slow draw off it and enjoy a little slice of heaven. You may experience your nose running if you were someone that released your cig smoke through the nose...vaping tends to loosen the mucus membranes in your nostrils...great if you have a cold as it will clean out your nose right quick but takes some getting used to the feeling.

Keep on vaping, enjoy the ride and more flavors then you could dream of...going back to my sour grape now...yummm

Hurts when you inhale? What is the nicotine content of the juice you are using?

Where to put the juice? I think you mean how do you vape the juice in the bottle that you have? If so, you need to refill the cartridge when it runs out by either dripping it into a cartridge, using a syringe or using the condom method. If the original carts aren't the same brand juice, you'd be better off starting with a new blank cartridge.

Just read the "how to inhale" thread in the beginner's section and its advice definitely helps: take it in slowly (not like the 1 or 2 second drag on an old cig) and hold it in your mouth for a while before inhaling. This new experience is definitely going to be a learning curve!

One thing I recommend learning right off the bat, and may help you with inhaling normally too, is how to stealth vape. What I do for this, is take a smaller than normal drag, and hold that in my lungs. Then, without exhaling, I take a 2nd normal breath (not using the ecig), and hold that in as well. Then when I exhale, I don't blow out any visible vapor at all. Great for those times when you don't want to be obvious about what you're doing.

I actually vape this way all day at work, since it's "not allowed". I actually keep inhaling a bit after I release the button, so as to get any remaining vapor left in the mouth piece, so that vapor doesn't show up from the ecig either. Just some tips I've learned over the years

I hate to bring this up, but I had a smooth transition in getting used to the hit from a vaporizer. I think my experience of smoking from a vaporizer made for certain "herbs" helped quite a bit.

It's much like smoking your first cigarette. No one really enjoys it at first. You have to get used to it, and before you know it you'll be taking giant hits with no problems.
