Well, I've gone ahead and attempted an SS build on the Nova. However, it did not turn out as expected- and as easy as using SS is with every other system I've tried, my vivi is now headed for the landfill. I'll keep the silica build tutorial up, but with the caveat that there are just too many places along the coil run for the things to short out for me to recommend rebuilding them. As I once said before, as far as I'm concerned, the inherent design of the Vivi itself is flawed- as I've found out today, it's flawed in *so* many ways-more than I ever expected.

I now suspect that people using the Vivi heads, unless they are rebuilding the leads with pure NR wire, are inhaling silicone smoke. Sorry, but after a month and a half with the thing, that has been the only constant from pre-wound wicks to DIY setups on the Vivi Nova. I strongly recommend examining yours, and switching out to another system with the same juice and see if you taste the difference.

man that is too bad. i was really hoping to get some positive reinforcement. but i cant say i blame you. you seem to have meticously broken this down as much as possible and still find flaws.
i do plan to use the silica and kenthal that i have purchased, but im not so sure ill get any ss at this point. i dont like how tempermental shorting can be. and i dont know if im up for all that oxidizing. i think i may however get a yard of silver wire for like $4. i think that amount will be suitable seeing how the legs would only need a quarter or half inch tops.

Even though I'm done messin with the thing, I would still like to know how the NR silver wire works- post here if you ever get to rebuilding with the NR wire!
