http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ExmXJUXDJhIMove over Coldheat and make room for the Dualheat. Probably the easiest dual power mod you can make.

I could not find my multi-meter but I can tell from the vapor how well this thing works. It is a 6-volt soldering iron that is switchable from low to hi. The low setting hit just like my 510 and the high setting packs a punch.

Set the switch on "I"(8 watts), press the button and the green light goes on. Nice flavor, 'smooth' thick vapor.

Set the switch to "II"(11 watts), press the button and the red light goes on. Not as much flavor but hits hard,MASSIVE vapor. If your not ready for it, it might choke you.

To build this all you need to do is open it up and remove the oversized 'rca' adaptor and replace it with a normal RCA socket. If you don't use warp's awsome RCA mod, attatch a battery connector of your choice for your favorite atty.

:D

Awesomeness!

hehehe, thanks for the pix, I'm still waiting for mine to arrive.

So how long do you think it took you to mod it?

____

My rca socket had threads on it that i had to remove, so i took the connector to work today an took the threads off with the bench grinder, if it wasnt for that little snag, i would say 10 min+ 2hrs for the glue to dry. It works like the coldheat but I can vape it like my 510 bat with the flip of a switch, i love it!!:hubba:

WOW! That is sharp! Way to go! The perfect mod imo, has the atty tube buried in the mod body with shark gills on the side for air circulation. The tip would be the only thing breaking the smooth lines of the mod body...the atty and tip/cart just stuck on the end is not very cosmetic....imo, it makes it look too long on the front end...but I do want one! :D

HAHA Another mod like mine with the Spot Light!!! I love the spot light in the dark waching all the vapor!

How many AA batteries does it hold?

Because your on RCA you should try Dual RCA into MONO plug.

The weller takes four AA size batteries. ..it can be a torch, a duel heat soldering Iron and a dual power e-cig all at the same time absolutely brilliant.

Unfortunately the soldering tip 'RCA' had to be removed and replaced with the standard size RCA. If you could find a larger style RCA to attach a bat connector, then the Weller would not need any mod whatsoever but unless you outfitted all of your mods with a bigger style RCA(If you can find one in the first place, or use the soldering tip to mod the connector)The RCA mod would not be so universal.
Hope that made sense.:p

By the way Pete, If I didn't see your coldheat mod thread, I wouldn't be vapeing on these 2 mods right now. :D

Wow got my Weller today...knocked up a quick atty attachment for it ...it certainly works as good as the cold heat ....and it's so neat having the high/low settings.
Although the atty attachment I made does make it a bit long compared to how I converted the cold heat iron, I wanted to still be able to use it as a soldering Iron if I wanted.....Unlike the cold heat soldering Iron this one really does solder great!!
With it already having a momentary button you can't get a much easier mod than this. Well done for the vid hangtime.

My solution to use it for soldering was a simple one, I bought 2 and used one to mod the other, the blue one is for vape and the red is for solder. Simple solution and cost me $20 after tax. It was funny useing a Weller to make the Hungwell.:D

Humphf ....I had to pay £25 just for one of them over here in rip off Britain.

lmao at name .....Hungwell.

oh dear .....I have just put rechargeable batteries in the weller and for some reason it won't work with rechargeable's !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!....

edit .....forget that ...the contacts in the battery compartment base just needed bending a little, the rechargables must be ever so slightly shorter.

I wonder if you could make a cart go on the end of that red one and just be done searching for an atomizer mod???? What's the heat up time on this bad-boy??

It does heat up the soldering tip quite fast but I would think it's still too slow for our purposes and would probably drain the batteries far too quickly for vaping even if it worked. The more I have thought about it, the more I realise that it's going to be very hard to beat the atties as they are now for any reasonable battery life.

Nuts ! For a second there I thought I had the solution to my atomizer woes. I have been working on an actual working prototype...but the cost on this thing is astonomical. I don't see a real market for a 100 dollar atomizer, even if it did last forever. My search continues............... Nice work on the Weller. by the way...it's nice and clean :)

Hey Bruce.. if you could make a 100 dollar atty that really would last for life...I think there would be a huge market for it.

Really?? I thought it was way over the top...considering you can just buy attys for 5 bucks and they last for a month..... Forever may be too strong of a word for longevity of this thing.... but upwards of 50k hours of use at the current watt density (3.7v 5w)
I haven't tested yet with 7.4v yet.... I'm kinda scared at what would happen to a cart at 14 watts.....
