Hi Folks after getting some help from Harry I've managed to get the What's New working somewhat like it used to work.

In this upgraded version of Vbulletin they are TABS instead of buttons. Just click whats new and the menu will change underneath it when the page (tab) loads.

Hmmm.. when I click What's New, it goes to the main forum page, as if I had clicked Forum. :?: (ECF-1 on Chrome)

At least in FF, the Whats New isn't quite fixed, but is closer.

First time you click What's New on the main page it doesn't seem to do anything but reload, however, after that first time you should see that "New Posts" (right below What's New) has changed to "Today's Posts", a dropdown list.

Click the Today's Posts dropdown, and you'll see it now gives choice for Today's Posts, My Posts, Classifieds,...

Perhaps code it so that the "What's New" actually has the dropdown, right off the bat, else so that "Today's Posts" is there on first load (so that it doesn't require you to click What's New once to get it to appear)?

Still a consistency problem. The What's New creating "Today's Posts" only works on the main page. As of right now, say you select "Today's Classified Posts". On that listing of classifieds, "Today's Posts" is back to saying "New Posts". You either have to use "My Threads", on the right end of the second row of choices, else press "What's New" and be brought back to the main page. There's no way to directly go from the classifieds to "Today's Supplier Posts", for instance, since the "Today's Posts" dropdown isn't there.

Also, say you are on the main page, have "Today's Posts" showing, right now if from the drop down you then select "Today's Posts", it loads a list, but at the top of the list you'll see some debugging info -- it is listing all the forums being searched and included in the list.

(I'd attach a screenshot, but the edit post window doesn't let me upload from my PC...)

Progress :)

Tibs yes it goes to the main forum page because people were complaining about the activity stream.

Mark, it will never be the same again because vBulletin made such sweeping changes in the nav system, all we can do is work on it and try to make it more like it used to be.

OS, no complaint, just trying to document how it is working.

Personally, the "Today's Posts" dropdown list seems to be decent, gives access to new posts/my posts/suppliers/classifieds, just that the coding needs to be tweaked so that it is always there, on every page.

Right now "what's new" is used to invoke the "today's posts" button. Since there are other active dropdown buttons that are accessible on all forum pages, I gotta believe "today's posts" dropdown also could be.

(I know this takes time, the above is just meant as an input on a possible end state.)

ok - found it now! ;) to get the drop-down list under 'what's new' i got to start from the main forum page, i believe ;)

i agree with mark - the main tool bar should be consistent throughout. already i hit 'mark forums read' because i expected 'my threads' to be in that location :D

my sincere condolences to sarge and harry for this newest update hassle;)

I agree and we'll be working on it, but it is going to take some time. If it were just a tool bar it would have been finished last night but in order to get consistency across the site each tab of the "tool bar" will need to be reworked and each entry manually inserted and tested.

To be quite honest with you there is no real chance whatsoever of complete uniformity because of the nature of the nav system and the amount of information that needs to be presented. It is now tabs with menus not the drop down button that folks have become accustomed to working with.

Anyhow I'll be working on it some this afternoon and evening

I've just removed the whats new tab completely since it just seems counter intuitive and put it in as a menu in the Forum tab. That way its always there and doesn't need that extra click to load. I also put in tabs/links/buttons for blogs and the coupon code site
