Yeah, the veneer is thicker than powder coat (about 1/32" thick) so it sits proud of the end caps a tiny bit. I had a problem with the first mod I veneered (my Chuck) in that leaked juice got into the end grain of the veneer and discolored it. On the GLVs I carefully sand a radius on the edge of the veneer and spray on the acrylic from each end to insure that the grain is well sealed. I haven't had a problem with discoloration on mine yet and I did it in October. I think it's sealed up good.
