Better than my first mech which had a tendency to fall apart in my pocket. How do you say... serious and potentially catastrophic short circuit risk? Might as well have been carrying around a pipe bomb. Oh don't worry, those tiny "pressure vales" would have totally saved my bacon had something gone wrong. Riiiiiight.

I think this will stay at home for awhile. I understand ohms and I've got great authentic batteries. I didn't think I'd get it ordered at that price.

You'll be fine as long as you are confident in your understanding of Ohm's. That and your coil building prowess. Take some extra time with your coil. Put a dang flashlight up on it after you've got it installed.... no sneaky connections going on where you couldn't see and all that? Check the switch internally, no loose parts?

And PLEASE.... use an Ohm Checker. For VW/Temp mods these days you almost don't need to bother. Half of them have it built in.

But for Mechanical mods the three biggest rules I can think of:
1.) Know your continuous amperage draw
2.) Know your coil's Ohm
3.) Understand the relationship between these two things

(Know as in, no possible variation or misunderstanding, you KNOW what they are.)

With a Squonker/Box Mod you're already set. AFAIK those things require a lot less maintenance than something like a Nemesis-style tube mech. Man I was shining my contact pins/threads with Noalox for lowest possible amount of voltage drop, constantly checking that my mechs had good solid tension, tweak the switch assembly once or twice a day and make sure the tiny pin didn't fall out....

By comparison you've got it easy, just take it slow and master the basics!

Yeah, plan on taking my time. Also plan on putting the Pulse 24 on top, just a single coil.

I'll be honest I lazy out and use prebuilt, but will obviously check the resistance before firing.

Researching 20700 batteries. Found the Santo, which I believe is the one that's considered one of the best.

I'm honestly a little apprehensive, maybe it's excitement.

Sanyo NCR20700A? If that's the one it's 30A continuous. Just make sure you're not using the 20700B which is like 16A continuous. You'd have to push it pretty hard to go past 30A, but I honestly never saw a reason to go below 0.3 Ohm myself. Depends on your coil size I guess. Some people like those huge beefy things but I'm totally fine with twisted. As you said you're using pre-built so it seems less of a concern.

Not gonna lie and tell you I ever went to the dark side like others did, pushing 0.1 Ohm like some kind of VapeNaysh hardcore biker gang vaper ... dude....But a little apprehension is good. Like that little angel on your shoulder telling you to do the right thing. "Well did you double check? Okay how about triple check?"

Sorry I'm a pretty big advocate for battery safety and I was mostly active on ECF back in the day when Mechs were all the rage. Gotta beat the fear of God into these new vapers every now and then.... metaphorically speaking :D

Good luck to you my dude, and happy vaping. Truth be told I miss using mechs sometimes. That unadulterated voltage makes for one smooth ride.

Glad you said something about the Sanyo B version. I may have missed that. Right now I have 25rs, VTC5As & VTC6s. Figure I'd use my 5As mostly.
Haven't gotten to Moochs 20700 reviews yet, in my reading list for tomorrow.

Thank you for the advice. I won't use it too much. Love my Therion. This was an impulse buy. Who could pass up $20?

Sounds a bit mean, but you either know what you are doing with a mech, or you don’t. If you are worried I’d suggest that you probably don’t. I can’t say I have ever worried ever when using a mech - because I know the (incredibly basic) principles to keep things safe.

Understand the principles and no one should ever fear mech use.

Not afraid of it, and worried may be too strong a word.

It's my first. I know what can go wrong, want to make sure doesn't happen.

BTW, how can you be "sure you know what you're doing" until you've actually had the opportunity to do it? Not trying to sound mean, but I guess we aren't all born with complete knowledge and experience.

Have to start somewhere and I'd rather be worried or apprehensive. That at least shows respect for what could go right, and what could go wrong. Know what I mean?

It’s good to be wary of the possible outcomes, but adequate research will tell you that basic principles will keep you safe. I know this thread is done in jest, but it is a theme I see often in the vaping community. Mech use doesn’t have to be a ‘hope I get it right’ scenario - just ensure you know what you are doing before first use.

Sanyo a is all but impossible to find online. However the vapecell gold 20700 has been shown to be a rewrapped A cell by mooch. I grabbed some and have been impressed.
Build your pulse 24 on a regulated and you will be ok. Just remember with how the screws are and the tubes, you must test it fully assembled. Basically juice assemble and test vape on your regulated before installing on the bf. Better safe than sorry.
