Okay - maybe I grossly misunderstood what I thought I was ordering. Ordered a 510-801 adaptor to attach to my Ego batts so that I could order the Kanger 808 cartos (seeing as how the 510 Kangers were out of stock). Got it today, filled a Kanger carto, screwed everything together and ... nothing. Absolutely nothing. Is there any possibility that this connection does not work properly on an Ego battery and is meant for a 510 battery even though the threads are the same? There is no juice getting to that Kanger carto whatsoever.

You said you got a 510-808 adapter, but you would need a 808/901-510 if you want to use a 808 carto with an ego battery ... sounds like you got the wrong one, unless I am misunderstanding your intentions for use.

A 510-808 will adapt a 510 carto to 808 threaded batts .....

I have both 510-808 and 808-510 adapters, and yes they are different.

Hmm ... this is the one I got. 510-901(808D)

Was wanting something to attach to my Ego's so I could use the Kanger 808 cartos. Did I mess up?

I bought the same one and it works on my ego with bloog cartos. It is a little poorly threaded and tight fitting. Maybe lube the threads a bit and make sure it's tightened down fully.

Then you need the 901(808) - 510 adapter instead 901(808D)-510

... the one you got would adapt a 510 carto/atty to a 901/808 threaded battery.... whoopsie :p

Okay ... now I'm really confused. The way I read that description is that it would adapt a KR808 battery so that you could add a 510 atty (for example). The one I got fits the right way so that I can screw the 808 carto on to my Ego battery - it just doesn't fire up.

Mess around with the set screw/pin to make contact with your atty/carto and still be able to contact your battery. Sometimes they can be finicky to get just right due to the deliberate (I believe), loose tolerances in manufacturing to accommodate different device/battery connectors.

Ok Fisher I had to turn on the lights and pull out my adapters to verify which does what :p ....

sorry for the confusion, and you are right ... the one you ordered is technically the right one. I just slapped mine on my Ego batt and KR8 carto and it works just fine .... did you try cleaning the connections on both the Ego batt and the carto??

Okay - I just really tightened the ends right up real hard and it's working now. Not getting the usual flavor from my carto that I'm used to with a Kanger though. May have to bite the bullet and buy an actual KR808 battery to go with these at some point. But at least it IS working now and I'm getting the usual tons of vapor, etc. Thanks for the tip, Bigwave.

Most ego's run regulated 3.2v and I believe the 808's are 3.7v so this may be the difference your seeing.

I wouldn't 'crank' things down over tight as the connectors in both the carto and battery are only lightly epoxied and will separate or spin, chancing a short. Connections should only (need to) be finger tight.

I'm almost positive (as I've had to do many many times) that if you make minute adjustments with the center of the adapter that you'll find 'just' the right position for it to work properly without over tightening.

Ah yes ... the lightbulb goes on! That makes perfect sense, Smokum, and would certainly explain the difference.

Totally agree, Mr. Whitecloud ... bring those 510 horizontals on!!!
