been dripping on a bridgeless attie that i bought from a good member here and its kickin well. decided id clean that one up and let it rest so i put another in and primed it up with a few drops and waited a bit. went to hit the button and heard a loud pop then the regular sizzle i normally hear so i smoked on it and all was good, went to drip again and nothing. not heating up at all just a faint quick hiss is all. is this a popped attie?? if so its my first and i may have to save it and remember it favorably, lol.

what would it be possibly then? maybe just a bad one? it was fine in round one but just the slightest of a start of a hiss in round 2 and then nothing, thought it was my battery at first but put the old one on and its fine. in my early vaping life ive never experienced this. should i just toss it ya think?

Yeah, I believe that you got a defective atty. Since all the ones I've used, it either popped or works like it should. There's really no in between. Also, you've already ruled out the battery since you did that quick test. IMO you should just toss it or try cleaning it and see if it does anything before you make that move.

Might as well make a last ditch effort since atties aren't really cheap.

A little bit of the "History of AttyPops' username"....

My 1st question or so on ECF was "My atty is making a loud popping sound...is the normal?" Not the usual hiss/sizzle... but a loud pop. I received the usual replies through the entire range of opinions. lol.

Anyway... the general consensus is that sometimes, with some atties, the little wicks inside go "pop" for some reason. There are several strands in there it it will usually still work if one pops.

I'm not sure what is going on with yours since you said "there is a faint quick hiss" but also said "there's no heat" (paraphrased).

Now... there are other things that can go wrong. Gunked coils can make it appear almost dead. If you're getting no heat whatsoever it's probably dead. Also CHECK that it is connecting properly... pry the little center post up on the connector with a paperclip and ensure that you are getting a good connection... sometimes they get pushed in. That's probably not it tho if you get hissing. Assuming that's not the issue... and cleaning it doesn't help, it's probably dead.

Dry dripping 2 drops directly into the atty, bypassing any carts and such. Maybe it just isn't wicking anything.

Not a bad idea to invest in an inexpensive multimeter to test atties with. You can verify the ohm rating for the atty, as well as check if they are dead.

Believe it or not there is an in between. Attys and cartos can go high ohm. I've seen other threads and I've also had it happen to me a couple of times. In fact, it happened to me just a few days back with an atty that suddenly went to 24 ohms.

I'm not sure what happens but I think the most probable thing is a cold solder joint that has a good mechanical connection, but looses it due to heating and cooling, and goes to a bad mechanical connection.

If your atty is only producing a little whiff of vapor, that could be what has happened. I'm not aware of any way to fix it.
