A $25 5v box mod or a $15 5V 510 usb passthrough is a cheap way to figure out if it's for you. You could spend your money on something sexy in 5v later if it is.

That's why I ordered my passthrough. I didn't want to go wasting a bunch of money if it wasn't for me.

BTW - Totally unrelated, but I love that little electrical burst on your banner. You know those pictures where it's too faces looking at each other, but it's really a wine glass, but it's really two faces . . . .

With basic soldering skills and instruction comprehension that kit can be replicated for roughly 1/2 that price through MadVapes.

yea...its also half the price there if you leave out the batteries and charger...it is a kit after all
but of course you can make your own for less, of course you need a soldering iron, but that is true of just about anything
computers, cars, cabinets...its always cheaper to build your own.

Thanks guys. I'd really like to jump right to it and skip the less expensive options. $ really isn't an issue so long as its within reason. Saw some guy selling a mod the other day for $600. Dude's got balls to ask that.

I want one that works well, dependable, aaannd, ya know I have seen some that have a wood grain finish... really like that.

3 x AA Battery Box
3mm Slow color changing led..
Horn style switch -- Blue
Silver 510 Battery Connector, Sealed
LDO 5 volt, 3.0 amp regulator with control pin!
Protected Trustfire 14500 Battery, 900 mAH X2
TrustFire TR-001 Lithium Ion Battery Charger
30 Watt Soldering Iron KIT
Solder, Rosin core, 26 guage
Grand Total: $41.00 including the soldering iron and solder ($28.02 excluding solder and iron) so when your friends see that bad-... mod you can build them one for profit!
Satisfaction of using something you built yourself: Priceless.

But anyway...don't forget to check out the classifieds section in this forum. Good stuff pops up daily.

Been thinking about trying a 5 volt device a lot lately. People really seem to like the box mods. Never thought I would be considering one, but lately been thinking about it. I have seen a lot of really cool looking ones, and am just wandering of any of you guys would recommend a good 5 Volt device?

Thanks

Most good passthroughs will give you the same vape as a 5 volt with a battery that is on its nominal power curve.

You might as well get it over with a go 6 volt. You will throw rocks at 3.7 and 5v.

I'll suggest the Altsmokes Omega or the Silver Bullet with 510 attys.

Since 5card pulled my post out of the woodwork I'll chime in :). I've been using a GLV 5 volt for a while and I LOVE it. I just ordered a Buzz the other day. I should have it tomorrow or saturday. Notcigs sells the Buzz and seem like a great company. They called me to make sure I was getting exactly what I wanted a couple hours after I ordered and shipped it immediately. Great Lakes Vapor is also a great company. Jay is offering a lifetime warrantee on the GLV now and is great to deal with.
The GLV is a solid 5 volt mod. Super dependable for $110. The Buzz is a reputably solid mod (haven't got mine yet) that will give you any voltage you want for $115. As far as I can tell from what I know and what I've read you couldn't go wrong either way. I kinda like the idea of being able to fine tune the voltage to suit whatever atty or carto I'm using and get the most flavor out of whatever juice I'm vaping but I've got no complaints at all about this GLV in my hand right now.
Cheers

I have not tried this yet, but apparently, if you vape at 7.4V with a HV atty, it gets you real close to 5V.

Sorta. Actually I used 2X, 3.0V batteries and a 3.5 ohm 901 atty which gave me about 10.2 to 10.3 watts. That was a little bit hot for a lot of my juices. My 5V with a 2.5 ohm atty or carto keeps me right near 10 watts and I like it a lot better.
