So i have noticed when im at home, it gets kinda irratating having to track down batteries, or use my PCC, cuz then when I do go out I have a dead PCC =[
So I have decided on a passthrough, my questions:

Is a standard 510 passthrough good?

I am thinking about a puresmoker passthrough, dont mind the wait,
Is it worth the extra money?
Do I need the extension cord?

if I do get a PS, is it going to shorten my atty life?
what do I do with all the batteries im not going to be using anymore, except to go out? right now I got one batt, per atty!!!!

I've gone through 2 501 passthru's in 2 months. I don't know what the problem is, I even bought an extra battery for them. Now I have a Rn4081 passthru and love it. It doens't have that disposable batter to burn out.
I have to say though, I love having a pass thru it's just they don't seem to last that long. I've had my other stuff since I started vaping without any problems.

I use my 510 passthrough at about an 80-20 ratio for most days. I walk around in public with the wire going from my pocket to my mouth and I think it's great. I keep a normal battery as backup or for a change of pace vape if I don't want to just change the atty to the passthrough. I have yet to have the passthrough battery go out on me. Between a PC with usb, my car with a cigarette lighter adapter usb, or the usb out the wall socket, it never has a chance to drain.

When you do get the passthrough, definately get a USB kit like I just described. Don't pay over 20 bucks for it either. Even got an extra phone recharge adapter as a bonus.

I've had good luck evidently with the cheap chinese passthroughs - I'm use them 50/50 on the computer and 33% approx. at my chair - 100% in the car. Had them for 4 months without a problem. Again, mainly the posts you'll see here will likely be the 'problem posts' or people promoting another product.

I thought the puresmoker PT was overpriced at $35 (it probably wasn't) but at $69 it's ridiculous, imo - you could buy a 5pack of mega batts that will last quite a while and you can walk around! ;-) And their PT's haven't been entirely trouble free. I'm sure they're well built and they'll fix them for a while anyway. Nothing against puresmoker and the price according to his own business is necessary according to the post on the subject. I understand that but it doesn't convince me as a buyer. Yet I'm looking forward to getting my protege :)

For $11 try a cheap one at first and see how you like it. Get a 1amp plug to drive it. Many people didn't like PT's because they had underpowered connections.

Yes the PS passthrough is worth every penny! I treat mine like a red-headed stepchild and it keeps giving.... I think I would have to really abuse this thing for it to break.

I have been through 2 passthroughs, and one I jury rigged together(5v).

I also have a cheapo passthrough that I keep in the car and it has been just fine and shows no indications of failure like my other cheapos.

There is no comparison between stock 510 passthrough and PS passthrough. They are two totally different experiences. There is definitely a considerable price difference. Get the standard 510 passthrough, but if you are a committed pt vaper, be prepared to upgrade after awhile. PS passthrough is more intense than vaping on a protege and it is built to be a very hardy device.

Well once again it's hard to say it all depends on how hard you use it. It could last for a year or it could last a few months. I have had one for about a month now with it still kicking strong despite being abused. By abused I mean some serious vaping time on it.

A passthrough gives a hit that most find very satisfying and close to a tobacco cigarette hit. It is nice to have a constant voltage hit that never decreases over time like we see in the E-Cig batteries. Short of a mod this is the best way to ensure consistent hits of good quality.

My buddy treats his PS passthrough like it belongs to someone he doesnt like - drops it, sits on it, runs over the cord with his chair, even seen him throw it once (he has anger management issues) and his is still going like a trooper.

As aothers have said "it is in a totally different league". I wowuld think this would be a peice of hardware that would last a good looong time. (years?)

I have the PS unit and was lucky enough to get mine while they were $40. It's an exceptionally well built unit. Best thing is that it's the only pass thru that runs at 5 volts!!

The only down sides are that the cord is like a power cable from an electric range. Built strong as hell but tough to manage. The other thing is that it requires a strong USB source. It draws 1.5 to 2 amps and I don't have the courage to run it through my PC's. I bought a cheap wall unit that supplies 2 amps and it works great. For the car you will need a USB plug that is rated at 1.5 to 2 amps as well. I ordered one from a Hong Kong supplier and am waiting for delivery. I'll let you know how it works out.

I've had the stock Joye-510 PT, sold under several different names, and it was a very poor performer. I made one out of a nicostick and it really works well. I have a PS PT on order. A good pass through should deliver constant voltage and perform the same all day all the time. The stock one doesn't live up to this.

I have 2 ps pass throughs one in 801 and one in 901. I got my 901 over 2 months ago, use it 5 days a week and I love it! Well built, great vapor, comfortable to use. I use my 801 at home with my portable power supply.I must say that I prefer using a 901 or 510 to the 801 so I use an adapter.

I have a total of 7 pass throughs including a double barrel shotgun model that I had custom built by shreck. What an awesome vape that is!
