3.7 is alright, but I like the performance that I get out of my 5v passthru.

I'm not sure which direction to head in though. Theres so much stuff out there that I'm not sure what is what. When I first started out I bought a 501, KR8, and a 901 because I read so many reviews I just said screw it and bought the three I thought sounded best.

I really don't want to do that this time around with a higher voltage PV. I'd like to get something that will work and stick with it.

I've read a little about the Chuck, the V2, and a few others but a little guidance would be much appreciated.

I've become quite a fan of the ggtl in the last ten days. Built like a tank, can take any batty and any atty, and a 510 with a 18650 battery produces 5v ish effect with long battery life and (so far) no dead attys.

Yeah, it's pricey, but I'm really starting to believe 'you get what you pay for'. I'll hold of on final judgment until I've used it for a while, but I'm starting to believe that if I started off with this, I wouldn't have bought another mod. Good customer service, too; the creator and both distributors are always on this site.

For what it's worth, in my opinion.........5v is great. Got my GLV at the beginning of January and never looked back at 3.7. I've built three 5v mods since then and recently sold the GLV because I didn't need four PVs.

You've already done some of the research since you probably have some inclination of what atomizer you prefer (I use KR8 cartos exclusively, prior to that I only had a 901).

I've come to the conclusion that an HV mod is just a battery holder. The only difference is the styling and durability of the components. If you're at all handy, it's very easy to make a mod using what others have posted here. Sir_Lawrence posted a good pictorial of a pipe unit that's easy to follow. There's also several battery box mod instuctions.

Understand that there are 3.7V and then 3.7V's ;-) See:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/joye-510/65055-battery-voltages-surprise.html

and when clyde below says "510 with a 18650 battery produces 5v ish effect with long battery life" he's talking 3.7V of '5Vish' power. Peak voltage on the 3.7v mods like the Bartleby and th Protege and others mentioned should be in consideration. You can pick the Bart up for $50, but I do understand not wanting to go through a bunch of mods the way you can cig style kits. So you need to do your homework before deciding.

IOW, don't judge 3.7v mod batts like the 14500 that will keep peak voltage for hours vs. the 510 or 901 batt that won't even reach peak voltage and only keep it's own voltage off the charger in terms of minutes vs. hours for the mod batts. 5V may be right for you but see this:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ssion/73265-i-have-given-up-high-voltage.html

I don't know if that's going to be a 'trend' but DaMulta has had many mods and while I agreed I was a bit surprised that he posted that. It was significant to me but perhaps only to me ;-) Just giving you some things to consider....

Thanks for the info everyone.

If I got something thats threaded for a 901 atty will it work with cartomizers as well? I like the throat hit of cartos, but I also like 901 attys for the ease of refilling and dripping as well.

Nah... you have to get an adapter or start filing out some air channels. The 901 adapter is available at Nhaler. If you get a mod fit to a 510 then the adapters at altsmoke and heaven gifts (510 batt to 901/carto) will work.
