Hey guys, so I'm kind of new to vaping and right now I'm using an Ego 1000 mAh battery with some dripping attys but I'm considering on buying a mechanical mod for the 6v's but had some questions.

First off with stacking the cr123's for 6v, about how long should the batteries last?

With an 18650 how long should that last running an LR atty?

And should I really just take the plunge into VV? I understand all the benefits but I have trouble jumping into it because I'm afraid I would break it, with a mechanical mod it obviously doesn't rely on any electronics.

the cr123'a last about 4 to 6 hours for me and I vape allot thats on 3 ohms.
long term I have been rotating 3 sets of 123's for about 8 months and they still last a long time [about 4 hours]
I have not used the 18650's.
yes if you abuse your pv this is the mod to get, lol trust me.

I stay away from any mod with a pcb as I do not carry my soldering iron on me all the time, lol
not to say it will break but it may the way I drop or toss into the wall wile wii golfing, lol
my v3 still looks/works like new, worse thing that can really go wrong with it is loosing the spring, lol

Other Places
battery - 4.8 Volt NiMH Battery Cell

charger - 4.8 volt NiMH Battery Charger

The 123's last me just under 4 hours. The 17670 about 6 hours. The nihm lasts me about 3 hours before I notice a drop in performance.

The charger that madvapes sells is horrible. You have to time how long you have the battery on it. Cloudsofvapor.com sells a dual charger for the NiMN batteries that has a safety shutoff. He also sells the batteries.

I currently use a prodigy v3 at 6 volts. The unit is built like an abrahm tank. But as some one who has dropped it often, the thing to look out for is your poor atomizer. When I have dropped the prodigy my atomizer seperated from the connector, so it is better to have some kind of way to keep it from falling. The battery life is shorter at 6 volts, so have plenty of sets of batteries.

Follow all recomendations for batteries, label them so you have set A, set B, etc so they won't get mixed up. I had to chunk a pair because of some weirdness if you want to check the battery subforum on technical issues. Remember, with lithium ion technology, safe is way better than sorry.

The prodigy has a juice well if you over drip, so while it is useful, it is not as good as an ego cone or drip shield, so think about getting a drip shield and 510 to 510 shortie extender/adapter. Don't forget to change to a standard resistance atomizer!

Good luck!

I have a Prodigy and an Icon. They are probably the most durable mods out there. I have dropped them, kicked them across my shop concrete floor and they are still great. I have started vaping my prodigy at 6v and have not looked back. I have 3 sets of batteries for 6v and they all work well, I get through a work day on one set using the Icon as a backup.

vv is so worth it to me... I do landscape lighting and I have 2 provari's the one I use for work...a chrome one..has hit the road from the back of a bucket truck more times than I would like to admit...and has been run over by said truck once ..one noticable pin dent, and some wear scratches, the chrome is still fully intact and it works just as well as the day I got it out of my mailbox.....and even if it does malfunction...they stand fully behind their product.......there is nothing like being able to use any ohm atty and any juice and get the perfect vape every time....the prodigy is an amazingly simple and effective mod and does stand up under the worst trials you could think of... and if this is what you really like the thought of...and still want the vv...how about vw.....dont rule out the kick for use with most big batt tube mods for a vw vaping expirence...la la do wap....I am not connected to evolve in any way or provape for that matter just my 2 cents.....
