Ok. I've been using a Joye 510 for almost a year now, and I'm thinking of switching to something new. I'm thinking about switching to the Ego but the price makes me kind of hesitant. Since the parts are all more expensive than the 510, does that mean they last longer? I try to stretch my carts, atomizers and batteries as long as I can, but I've been having to buy at least 4 atomizers, 4 packs of carts and 2 batteries every month and it's getting kind of expensive. If the Ego parts don't last longer, than I can't see how I could afford to switch, but that's why I figured I'd ask here first. Also, how much bigger is the Ego than the 510?

the batteries will definately last longer
But atomizers and cartridges are the same.
They have atomizers and cartridges made specially for the Ego, but you don't HAVE to use them. You can still use the same old atomizers and cartridges you've been using all along.

As far as size goes...
Same length but fatter.
Imagine a the thickness of a regular cigarette compared to a cigar.

Well, as Jonmo said, there are options with Ego carts/cartos/atty/cones but you do not need to get them. I would suggest betting the Ego mega batty and start from there. Maybe add a cone to it (they are cheap) because I read that they give a better hit.

I ordered a mega Ego batt yesterday to go on my 510. I didn't order any other Ego specific stuff. (The order shipped today, awesome customer service.)

I hope that helps you. Just start with the batt and go from there. That is probably the most cost effective approach.

I would suggest the Battery, the USB charger and a cone. The charger for the ego works faster then the 510. I believe you can use a 510 charger on the Ego but you can not use the Ego charger on the 510. The 510 charger just takes a lot longer to charge an Ego battery then the Ego quick charger does. The cone directs air flow, makes it look more sleek and if you drip and happen to over drip a little it hides the mess very well :D All the atomizers and carts from your 510 will work on the Ego.

I just re-read your post. 4 atomizers a month? Are you using LR Atomizers? Going through 1 a week seems a bit weird. Are you using auto batteries or manual on the 510?

Ok. I've been having to buy at least 4 atomizers, 4 packs of carts and 2 batteries every month and it's getting kind of expensive. If the Ego parts don't last longer, than I can't see how I could afford to switch, but that's why I figured I'd ask here first. Also, how much bigger is the Ego than the 510?

The Ego uses the same atomizers. I would say get an Ego and use all the stuff you have now and see if it lasts longer. I have been using the same 2 batteries and atomizers for my Ego for a month now and so far so go. I go through about 4 to 6 ml of juice per day on them. The XL lasts a very long time per charge.

The LR atomizers run hotter and produce more vapor than the regular ones. They are more likely to burn out if you don't keep them wet though. They also go through juice quicker. If you're going through that many atomizers you're probably letting them get dry before refilling. Try topping off with juice more often and you'll probably get more life out of them. Another option is cartomizers. Next time you place an order try a box. They're cheaper than atomizers and mine have been lasting quite a while. You can get a 5 pack for the price of an atomizer.

I really really like my 401.. I started with a 510 and also have a Janty Stick...It got to the point that not only was I tired of switching batteries on my 510 every 2 hours but the buttons were driving me crazy.. I had gotten a 401 as a gift and it's my absolute favorite.. Not only do the batteries last a long time (even with constant vaping) but the gold swirl on the gold edition is beautiful.. The PCC is "smart" so if you don't keep an eye out on the clock, the PCC wil not drain the battery like with the 510 PCC... I've realized that the 401 is the best (IMHO) and until something else comes out, it always will be... I'm in shock that this one doesn't get the notoriety that it deserves....

If cost is a major concern you may want to look into a 5v box mod. It will not look like a real cigarette but cost wise it is probably the cheapest option in the long run. A 5v box mod is cheaper in the long run for the following reasons:

1. You can use standard lithium- ion batteries that are about $5 each instead of $20 each for an Ego battery.
2. Standard lithium- ion batteries last longer than an Ego battery.
3. You can use high volt atomizers or cartomizers which will give you longer life than the standard atty's or carto's, but you will still get similar TH, vapor, and flavor, probably slightly better.

Go to boxmods.net and check out the 5v box mod.

Have to agree with jmaul if you are actually running through the life cycle of the small batteries that fast you'll never be able to afford eGo batteries if you have to replace them that regularly. A battery MOD provides access to much cheaper batteries that last much longer and you only have to replace the battery not the switch/housing/etc.

That said, I'd give serious consideration to a pass thru of somekind. So you are not wearing out batteries prematurely using the same ones two or three times a day(still even three cycles a day should last three months might need a different manufacturer or vendor). Even if you only use PT at home that is one or more cycles you save your battery from having to go through making them last over a longer time frame. Plus they make great backups when a battery fails prematurely on you. If you have manual batteries make sure they are sealed, some brands arent on occasion. Most premature battery failures are juice getting in that hole manual or auto, autos have to have hole.

Cant really comment on atty lifespan as I switched to cartos almost immediately, mainly because I felt like I was constantly filling the carts mainly out of paranoia over trashing the expensive atty. It's possible the more expensive atty's you saw were the so called 'mega' atty's. They go with a 'mega' cartridge that is supposed to hold more juice, but that is the only difference I'm aware of. Regular carts are not long enough to work with the megas if you end up with some of both.
