Can I thin my vg with R.O. water verses distilled?

I don't know R.O. water, but I am vaping now for more than 10 years with base VG diluted with about 15% distilled water (to add VG-flavors afterwards)
Distilled water is very cheap in my country.

I just thought about it this morning. I just need to thin my max vg down. I have a R.O. unit for ice maker. Its easy enought to buy a gallon of distilled. I'm going to try to make my own juice with no pg and I know I will need to thin it. Thank you so much for the replies. I haven't tried any thing yet.

I'd vote for distilled. To put it in perspective, R.O. is probably fine, but distilled is definitely fine and not difficult to acquire, so why bother risking RO?

As far is the proportions go, I've heard of people who are happy with 1% water. It's all about what works for you so 1% - 5% - 10% - 15% or whatever else works for you is great, but since it's so much easier to add water than remove it you'll want to start low. Really low.

Presently I'm running a 50/50 mix of 20pg/80vg and 100% vg with 10% Jack Daniels. Eventually I'll ditch the pg but, still have some left. Chose to go w/ Etoh because I'm running a ceramic heater and I'm hoping its a better solvent than h2o for gunk buildup. I woman on this site said she uses 20% etoh. Don't know how she can tolerate the incessant buzz.

Problem with home filtering systems (and I have a rathe sophisticate one, created by the husband with I think 5 filtration processes on it, our water sucks) well, they may be fantastic but you just never know where you are in the "oh gosh, time to replace some filters" type process, I mean, it's going to have impurities, same as oh, say rain, honestly and I'm quite sure we breathe some in.

Unless distilled water like, is somehow tragically hard to obtain somehow, I'd use that. A gallon will go a long way.

I mean, why not, really?

I am not a fan of thinning with alcohols.. It's not really about what it does to my lungs (or coils, and some of the alcohols you mentioned might caramelize) bit it's more everything tastes like alcohol after awhile.. Fruit mix plus ETOH, chocolate mix plus ETOH it juts becomes :"Everything plus ETOH" and it gets old.

To each his own, however. I'd probably stick to distilled water, first.

I know you've already bought DW, but thought I'd chime in. I use VG based nic, VG, and flavoring. I don't necessarily think you need to thin it at all, unless you chain vape, or you're chucking clouds. But it really depends on your style and equipment. I'd try it without thinning first, to see if even you need to.

And even then, I'd experiment with R.O. (Regular Old) water. I wouldn't worry about impurities. I know, someone may mention potential volatile organic compounds. But- I mean, how much vapor from that Regular Old water do people inhale in the shower every day? Water boils at 212F, and you'll be vaping at 400-450F, so it's way past boiling, and "cleanliness" isn't an issue. So really, the biggest concern would be TDS (total dissolved solids) and minerals that could crud up your coil. When first starting diy, I tried thinning just with tap water to see if I liked it...and found I had no issues with all vg without thinning (which makes it that much easier).

But really, if you do need to thin for your vaping style and gear, long term, distilled water would likely have the lowest effect on your coil, and might give more peace of mind. Just my $0.02.

Thanks, I went out and bought a gallon of distilled water. I might as well go ahead and use that. I know I need to thin it a little bit I do have some small atomizers that don't seem to work too well at 100%. I do chain chain vape sometimes. I was going to get on the net today and try to find as many vg based flavors as i can. I might get lucky and find a list that's already made up. Thanks a lot
